ABOUT STOCKHOLM

Stockholm has already proven to be a startup hub capable of punching well above its weight class. The atmosphere and intense networking at the many meet-ups that take place every week is reminiscent of Silicon Valley. Indeed, also in terms of unicorns per capita, Sweden is second only to Silicon Valley, with well known brands such as Skype, Spotify, King, Mojang and Klarna. What are the contributing factors? Is it the forward-looking policies and world class infrastructure investments in the 80’s and 90’s. The Dotcom-experiences from the late 90’s and early 2000’s.  Relative economic stability, the more recent establishment of creative co-working spaces and startup-communities or a growing number of serial entrepreneurs and business angels? – probably all of the above.

NETWORK WITH THE NORDIC STARTUP ELITEThe first phase of our Grand Finale is a networking event designed to connect the Nordic region not only with each other, but with the global startup community. As you walk into the venue, hosted by Business Sweden, you will be entering an international startup hub. You will meet others from across the Nordics, as well as key players from Global Startup Awards' partners in Southeast Asia, Southasia, Central Europe and more. You can discover the most exciting businesses springing up all over the world, connect with future business partners, impress potential investors, and hopefully make some new friends.

EVENT 1GLOBAL STARTUP AWARDS EXCUSIVE NETWORKING EVENT

THREE EVENTS IN ONE DAYThe Grand Finale Day is the culmination of the Nordic Startup Awards competition and consists of three events that will happen on October 18th in Stockholm, Sweden.

At the Grand Finale Day you will find the elite of the Nordic startup scene from both the founder side, the investor side and from the ecosystem supporter side.

Besides this you will also meet stakeholders from startup ecosystems located in other regions under Global Startup Awards.

GRAND FINALE DAYEvent 1 - Exclusive NetworkingEvent 2 - Grand Finale Gala Event 3 - Grand Finale After Party

From the networking event, you will take a trip to Cirkus, where The Park is hosting the Grand Finale Gala. This is where the best of the Nordic startup ecosystem will be crowned by a jury of experienced and influential individuals. If you have been participating in the Global Startup Awards networking then maybe some of those new friends you met earlier will be honoured, and you can all applaud their achievements together.

EVENT 2

GRAND FINALE GALA

CELEBRATE WITH THE ENTIRE NORDIC ECOSYSTEM

CREATE FRIENDS AND CONNECTIONSThe day isn't over, however, so stay put. Once the Gala ends, Cirkus will hold the Grand Finale Afterparty. Here all the participants, win or lose, will gather to enjoy some drinks, dance, and relax after an eventful day. All these incredibly talented entrepreneurs, powerful investors, and global influencers, will be able to let loose and celebrate the amazing accomplishments of the Nordic startup ecosystem.

EVENT 3GRAND FINALE AFTER PARTY

Nordic Startup Awards is a unique platform and series of events in the Nordic countries. Since 2012, we have gathered the best of the best from the Nordic startup community. Our ambition is to recognise and celebrate all the great achievements of this region using a competition framework operating bottom up.

The aim of Nordic Startup Awards is to inspire, stimulate and recognise entrepreneurship throughout the Nordic region, whilst connecting a community of startup enthusiasts, serial entrepreneurs, and mentors from diverse and complementing backgrounds within the Nordic as well towards outside regions.

We choose not to focus only on the ‘hottest’ and most successful startups, but on the entire startup ecosystem – from the investors and journalists to the founders and the developer heroes.

THE BACKGROUNDOF NORDIC STARTUP AWARDS

The Nordics are home to some of the strongest tech startup ecosystems and has been called the biggest unicorn factory of the world. It has given birth to various superstars such as Spotify, Supercell and Skype.

Nordic tech startups are born global due to small domestic markets. This fosters very agile and innovative ecosystems. Furthermore, Sweden and Stockholm in particular, play a central role in this ecosystem. If the Nordic is the unicorn factory of the world, then Sweden is the land of the unicorns.
