Montie Gear Unveiling ‘EMP Box’ For Electronics Protection At Global Defense Expo

For Immediate Release

North Carolina-based defense and security equipment manufacturer Montie Gear is unveiling an easily portable, EMP-resistant container at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris. The “EMP box” is designed to protect sensitive electronic devices from the effects of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) or coronal mass ejection (CME) and can be used in the most rugged environments.

“This is a commercial, off-the-shelf (COTS) product to defend the electronic tools that are essential to modern security and communication in the field,” says Montie Gear President Montie Roland. “And we’re unveiling it at Eurosatory because we want clients to judge the quality of the product for themselves.” Eurosatory is the largest exhibition of security, land, and air-land defense industries in the world.

“But the EMP box isn’t just for military and security professionals,” Roland says. “It’s for anyone interested in being prepared to protect their electronic devices.”

The dimensions of the EMP boxes can be customized to meet customer needs, and Montie Gear’s focus on prompt service means that buyers should receive the product within eight weeks of placing their orders. All Montie Gear products are manufactured, assembled, and tested in North Carolina.

“We also pride ourselves on providing good value,” Roland says. “Our EMP protection equipment is a cost effective way to rapidly deploy a customizeable EMP solution. The COTS technology in this product allows the prompt delivery and low cost.”

The boxes are made with 3/16–inch-thick aluminum plate, with an optional MuMetal iron lining for protection from the magnetic effects of an EMP or CME. The connection between the lid and the box uses three sets of industry standard EMI/EMC/EMP gaskets to form a robust Faraday cage, plus an environmental gasket. Users can quickly enter and then reseal the box with six stainless steel clamps.

Anyone attending Eurosatory is encouraged to visit Montie Gear at the North Carolina pavilion in Hall 6, at stand J 468.

About Montie Gear

Our philosophy for Montie Gear products is pretty straightforward. We provide heirloom-quality products that are Troublesome Gap tough. Many products in today’s world are meant to have a limited lifetime. A good example is the cell phone you need to replace every two years. It works great, but over time technology changes and the fragile electronics don’t last as long as you’d like. We want to design and sell products that can be passed along to your kids or grandchildren. Many rifles get passed along from parent to child, sometimes marking a rite of passage. Granted, a shooting rest isn’t as special as your grandfather’s rifle; however, our products are simple, elegant and high enough quality that you will want to pass them along to the next generation.
