• John Logie Baird who was born on the 13th August 1888 in Helensburgh, Dumbarton,Scotland.

THE HISTORY/ TIMELINE

• 1900, Tesla granted U.S. patent

• 1904, Fleming invents the TV but not successful.

• 1906, First Christmas Eve program was shown,

• 1912, Radio signal amplifier deviced launched

• 1920, first scheduled commercial radio programmer launched,

• 1926, television system invented by JOHN LOGIE BAIRD,

• 1947, transventor is invented

• 1954, first coast-to-coast color TV transmission started.

TYPES OF TELEVISIONS• Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) – since the mid-1930s.• Rear Projection – The video image is projected

from inside the unit onto a mirror that reflects the image back to the screen.

• Front Projection- projector’s.• Plasma – flat-panel televisions, 42 to 56 inches on

average and are generally only available in larger sizes.

Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) – the most common type of television these days and are sizes from 15 to 55 inches.

Light Emitting Diode (LED) - uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to backlight the display.3D – conveys depth perception to the viewers.

TIMELINE OF THE TELEVISION

• In 1862 Abbe Giovanna Caselli invents his Pantelegraph and becomes the first person to transmit a still image over wires.

• Then in 1906 Lee de Forest built a vacuum tube that worked in the first mechanical working television.

• In 1940 Peter Goldmark invents the first color television with 343 lines of revolution.

• In 1948 cable television was introduced in Pennsylvania.

• In 1981 NHK demonstrates the HDTV which had 1,125 lines of revolution.

• In 1992 the first 21-inch full color plasma TV was introduced

• In 2010 the first 3-D televisions were put on the market.

ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS• Contains a lot of lead• LCD TVs use lamps that contain mercury so they

are harder to dispose of. • People don’t know how to dispose of televisions

properly.• Now there is a big concern about electronic

waste. • The newer TVs are requiring more electrical

power to run.

MAJOR CHANGES OF TELEVISIONS

• in 1936, coaxial cable was invented to transmit TV signals.

• The first TV started out with black and white pictures until 1940.

• in 1948 cable became available and provided more channels .

• 1956 - first remote control was made for the TV that was made with wires.

• Later the first HDTV was made for viewers to get a better and higher quality image.

• And in 2010 the first 3D TVs were sold letting viewers watch their programs in 3D.
