Perform  passive  accessory  motions  of  the  tibiofemoral  joint

The  patient  is  supine  with  the  knee  straight.  Stabilize  one  side  of  the  joint  and  move  the  other  first  in  an  anterior  direction,  then  in  a  posterior  direction  

 

Perform  Medial  and  Lateral  Shears

The  patient  is  supine  with  the  knee  flexed  to  roughly  90  degrees  (foot  flat).  The  examiner  places  1  hand  on  the  lateral  distal  femur  and  one  on  the  medial  proximal  tibia.  Stablize  with  one  hand  and  glide  with  the  other  hand.  Reverse  hands  and  apply  gliding  force  again.  

 

Perform  passive  accessory  motions  of  the  patellofemoral  joint

The  patient  is  supine  with  at  least  20  of  knee  flexion.  Perform  superior,  inferior  medial,  and  lateral  glides  remembering  the  importance  of  the  concordant  sign

Compare  and  contrast  results  

Compare  and  contrast  findings  between  active,  passive,  and  accessory  motion  testing.  Discuss  how  to  interpret  these  findings  generally  and  within  the  boundaries  of  the  case  study  

 

Discuss   Are  there  other  joints  you  might  decide  to  screen  based  on  findings  so  far?
