Pronoun Case

What does that mean?

We’ve already learned

that a pronoun can

substitute for a noun.

Remember – a noun is a

person, place, thing, or

idea.

Pronoun case tells us the

job that the pronoun is

doing in the sentence -

subject, object, or

possessive.

Pronoun Shift

What does that mean?

The noun or pronoun that the pronoun refers to is its antecedent.

When writing or speaking, we need to make sure that a singular pronoun refers to a singular antedent or a plural pronoun refers to a plural antecedent.
