Seminar On Final Year Projects (18-09-2014, Conference Hall)

Keeping in mind the importance of FYP for final year students for jobs perspective as well as for higher studies

Team ICE conducted a Seminar on final year projects. Chief Guest

and speaker of this seminar was Dr.Sharif Bhatti (Ex-VC UET

Taxila). Following contents were covered in this seminar:

1. What are the steps involved in FYP and how to manage

Time to complete it within time frame?

2. What is the importance of FYP in the future of a student

either as a researcher thesis or job professional?

3. What are the problems in today’s world and research areas

link with it.

Flood Relief Campaign (22&23-09-2014, UET Taxila) Heavy monsoon rains and floods across Pakistan during the first week of September 2014 killed at least 193

people. The rivers Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej, and Jhelum overflowed and brought flash floods, which caused homes

to collapse in the Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) regions. More than 28,000

people have been affected in AJK and Punjab. On account of this, a small campaign was being on through the

platform of “ICE student chapter UET, Taxila” to gather donations for flood victims

from teacher, students and common people.

A total of Eighty Six Thousand Nine Hundred and Four rupees (88904PKR) were collected

from teacher student and common people.

On 25 September, 2014 all the donations collected through campaign were handled to Army Flood Relief Polo

ground, Rawalpindi by Ahmed Usman Dewan, Executive Member ICE Student Chapter UET Taxila, and Head

of flood relief campaign.

Seminar On Construction Management (23-10-2014, ConferenceHall)

A construction manager should have problem-solving skills, flexibility in nature and ability to do multitask

under pressure. Typically they do not perform actual construction tasks. In order to explain & clear the concept

of construction management to students, ICE Student Chapter UET Taxila organized a seminar on

“Construction Management”.

Seminar was held on October 23, 2014 at Conference Hall,

UET Taxila. Our guest speaker was Mr. Abdul Qadeer(GM

NESPAK). Students from all sessions came & attended the

beneficial lecture.

Following were the contents of this lecture:

Sectors comprising civil engineering

Stake holders of construction

Development of standard document

Tests, formats and reports

Orientation 2k’14 (13-11-2014, Conference Hall) The introductive orientation of new session was held by ICE Student chapter UET Taxila. The purpose of

orientation was to demonstrate the freshmen about Civil

Engineering, grading system being practiced and university

life at UET Taxila, technical and general societies operative

in the institution and above all the importance of Institute of

Civil Engineers, Student Chapter UET Taxila.

The advisor of ICE Dr. Naeem Ejaz was invited. He

explained that how a student can get benefit, being a part of

ICE. He briefly explained the importance of civil engineering and role of Technical

societies in engineering life.Then the chief guest Prof. Dr. Liaqat Ali Qureshi (Patron ICE and Chairman

Environmental Engineering Dept.) was invited to the stage. He briefly explained importance of international

membership of ICE. He mentioned the names of renowned engineers and professionals that are linked to ICE.

He explained that how an undergraduate student can interact with the global network of engineers and

professionals through the platform of ICE.

MS Office Workshop (02-12-2014 , Exam Hall EED)

Most of the new comers are not much familiar with Microsoft Office and relevant computer tools. So for all

such type of students and especially for 2k’14, team ice conducted a workshop on the very basics of MS Office

i.e. Word, Excel and Power Point. The speaker was Engr.Saqib Mehmood (Lecturer Civil Engineering

Department). At the end of workshop certificates were distributed.

Primavera Workshop (10 to 22-02-2015, UET TAXILA)

We have organized workshop on Primavera P6, which was consist of lectures on Project management and practical work on Primavera. It was a two week workshop in which almost all of the departments of university participated. Workshop was carried out by Adeel Gondal & Mr. Wajid, CEO of an engineering firm named as CEM Solutions.

CIVONIA (23 to 27-02-2015, UET TAXILA) Team ICE has organized a mega event which is full of thrill, enjoyment, fun and technical activities named as

“CIVONIA.”
