MELFORD HALL was built in the 16th century and for the last two centuries Melford Hall has been and still is the much-loved family home of the Hyde Parkers In 1960 Melford Hall was given to the National Trust and is open to the public from April to October You can take part in exciting activities and events Whether itrsquos a walk talk picnic on the lawn or a fun-filled afternoon for the family therersquos lots going on for all ages

Beatrix Potter was a cousin of the Hyde Parker family and came to love Melford through her many visits The West Bedroom used by Beatrix Potter displays her watercolours and drawings The original Jemima Puddle-Duck is also on display given as a present from Beatrix Potter to the Hyde Parker children

THE LAW is changing with regards to identification requirements for Dogs From the 6th April 2016 in England all dogs over the age of 8 weeks will need to have an Identification chip (ID Chip) placed and registered with one of the approved databases

Once placed the identification is permanent and lifelong However it is worth ensuring the details held on the database are up to date especially if the pet has been rehomed or rescued or if you have changed address This is important as if details are not up to date the dog will be seen as unchipped according to the legislation

Under the new law anyone with an unchipped or unregisteredincorrectly registered dog can be liable to a pound500 fine

The chip is the size of a grain of rice and is placed under the skin of the neck between the shoulder blades The details of owners are registered against the chip number so in the event of straying or being lost they can more easily be re-united
