How effective is the combination of your main product and

ancillary texts?

• I found that by choosing a song that I knew well and could relate to, I found it a lot easier to create an artist and his identity based around that particular genre. I wanted to make sure that all forms of my artist were able to relate back to his collective identity. However, an older audience may draw the conventional stereotypes of teenagers from my video as he wearing hoodies and is portrayed to come from a urban background where as a teenager like myself would relate to it in a positive manner.

• My digipak and poster linked well with my video as from the beginning I had the idea of who my artist. However, as I was novice to Photoshop I struggled to portray the image I had in my head, as you can see from my poor drafts. Once I overcame this I managed to create a digipak which portrayed my artists image by using many effects and settings. By using the same picture and font for my Front Cover and Poster it made it look more professional by making it consistent. I used pictures of my artist in his home town and estate to show that where he grew up has shaped him and influenced him as an artist.

• In addition to this the jumper my artist is wearing creates the theme for my digipak and poster. He is wearing it in each panel and the CD pattern is the same to the one seen on the jumper. This consistency in my digipak and poster helped me construct a symbol that the audience can relate back to my artist, creating a motif for my artist. This was also carried through in my video as my artist is wearing jumper in one of the performance shots.
