Research and Planning

When conducting research and planning I set up a questionnaire on survey monkey.

Then I advertised the Survey on my Facebook page as my target audience was people around my age who would watch television shows about high school kids.

From my survey results I was able to pick out effective ways of appealing to my target audience and making my media product conventional with what my audience expect.

Doing this enabled me to make my product suited to what my target audience would expect.

From my research and planning survey I managed to identify the following:

These questions enabled me to get a basic idea about what my audience expect from my media product. This helped me create a product that matched these expectations.

Questions 7 to 10 were more specific than previous questions. These enabled me to get a more in depth understanding of what my target audience would expect to be included in my media product.

Findings from Surveys

From all of my questionnaire results I knew that my audience would want my opening sequence to be fast paced with clips of each of the characters. They also expected my media product to contain a catchy theme tune that will be easily associated with the show.

Final Piece

I did a focus group with 4 people aged 14-16 as I had identified that age as my target audience.

I showed them my final piece and these were their responses.

Beth 16I liked the opening sequence, I particularly liked the editing on the text for Izzie as it was very girly. However I would recommend to make the sequence a bit longer as it was quite short.

Ben 15I enjoyed the opening sequence and felt that it appealed to both genders through the use of male and female characters, I also felt that the up beat music went well with the pace of the opening sequence.

Charlotte-14I felt that the opening sequence was rather childish and should be aimed at a lower age group. However I felt that the editing was really good and went well with the music as it was fast paced.

Alex 14I liked the use of all the different camera angles and editing techniques, they stopped it from becoming repetitive and boring. I also liked the tempo of the sequence and felt it was very effective.

I also received feed back from my Youtube video that I uploaded. The feed back I received was positive with 11 likes on the video and 2 comments.

As with My research and planning I conducted a survey to get feed-back from my target audience about my final piece.

These questions were more basic in order for me to get a basic idea of the type of audience that took my survey and watched my product.

These questions were more specific and asked for specific audience feed-back so I can gain a better understanding of what I did well with my product.

Based on the feed-back that I received I feel that my final piece appealed to the needs of my target audience and used many of the conventions that they expected to see within my piece of media.

However there were weaknesses to my products as my ancillary tasks could have used more content and images to make them more eye catching and my opening sequence could have been longer.
