QUESTION 1 IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP

AND CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?

• For question one this group use a simple blog post format to display their answer. They feature screenshots of their blogs, sceennshots of their own film and trailers of other films. All these visual aids help the audience understand what they’re saying, and they strengthen the answer as you’re able to see what they’re talking about. It also makes it less plain and boring, and more interactive. I don’t particularly like the format of this question, and think it could be more interactive and they could’ve adapted the text to make some key words stand out.

• The actual context of the answer is detailed. They touched on all bases of conventions and how their reasoning for their influences. For example, they used the example of Shutter Island when talking about codes and conventions such as close ups on characters faces. They also explained why tasks thy carried about were important, such as their task on Alfred Hitchcock and how that linked to deciding and developing their sub genre of psychological thrillers.

• They also discussed how they have been unconventional too, this shows they’ve thought about all aspects of thriller and how breaking the conventions can sometimes be effective also. For example, they used a female antagonist which they go on to explain how it ‘challenges stereotypes of gender…it works well as it makes the audience uneasy’. They’ve eplained well why they’ve done things and how they fit the conventions.

• Overall, the actual answer is detailed, however the format could be more interactive.

QUESTION TWOHOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT

PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?

Page 5: Evaluation team 7 productions

• This question in my opinion was quite weak. There is a spelling mistake within the question on the first slide which is immediately unprofessional. The PowerPoint itself was plain and boring and lacked visual aids and colour. The font was standard and there was no variation. The answer lacked detail and could’ve included more links to real thriller films which inspired them, and also more reasoning as to why they did something. The slide on the Protagonist/Dad (Tom) was in depth and well written. For example the reasoning behind why Tom wore mix matched shoes and odd clothing, was because they wanted to ‘present someone who is mentally fragile’. They then went on to explain why they chose these clothing items.

• The end slide was all about why they chose certain stereotypes, which to summarise, they mainly said how it was so the ‘’audience could relate and identify with the characters’’.

• This last slide was repeated twice, which shows a lack of care and thought about the presentation and overall look. To of got a higher grade for this question they could’ve used more visual aids and taken more care with spelling and overall presentation.

QUESTION 3 WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTIONS MIGHT

DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?

• Overall strengths of this answer would be the concise definitions, for example the definition Film London Microwave. • It was also written concisely and in short paragraphs,

this meant it didn’t overwhelm the reader and meant it was manageable. • They also included visual aids to go alongside some

of the slides, which made the audience connect with the tet more as they understood better, because they could visualize.• One weakness would be that it sometimes lacks

detail, own examples and comparison.

QUESTION 4

This was my least favourite answered question. I can’t understand any of it, due to the high pitch of the voices. Although the actual production is good, I can’t understand it therefore I cannot evaluate the content.

QUESTION 5For this answer, they created a sequel of their preliminary task. Although it was a good idea, it sometimes clarity and focus to the question. Overall, I like the style they’ve answered the question and the originality, however it could be more focused to the question and feature detailed examples of their own work in how they specifically targeted their audience.

QUESTION 6

Question 6 never worked and didn’t appear, I don’t know whether it was a fault of the mac or a fault of the programme; however, I am unable to evaluate it now.

QUESTION 7

This answer was formatted into a video blog. I like how they have been so precise in what they’re saying, and used examples. However, they could’ve been more interactive and showed more examples of the development. Overall, I thought it was well answered and I like the idea of doing a video blog as a response.
