Opening Sequences Research

❖ To get the feel of successful opening sequences, i researched film opening from the same genre as i had shown.

❖ This help me to gather the necessary factors that made opening sequences more enjoyable for the audience

❖ Without this research i wouldn’t be able to understand the conventions of a film opening.

❖ Due to my understand i now had the essential factors required. E.G. credit and production names

Convection of Gangster Films

❖ To clearly show that are films was a gangster film, we used convections that the audience would expect to find.

❖ These include; weapons , bodyguards, dead bodies and murder

❖ This mise-en-scene helped to convey feeling and emotion into our opening film.

The Uses of Characters

❖The different characters in the opening film conveyed different status of power and class.

❖The gangster boss, wearing the suit convey a more powerful position in the hierarchy of the group, compared to the bodyguards which were wear hoddies , tracksuits and balaclaves to hide there identities.

editingThe editing at first was using all the clips chronological order, but than we decide to creating flash backs which create a different element to are opening. The uses of white screen create to effect of looking back in time at the garage where the hostage was murdered.

Title & credits❖I download a font called urban jungle

which was perfect for the credits in the opening , From are audience research our target audience like the font and thought it’s complimented the opening, The font create a great atmosphere. We decided to have the final shot with the title so the audience have to watch the whole trailer to find out the name. Example of font below
