A2 MEDIAEVALUATION 4

Page 2: Evaluation 4

What was the intended outcome for the audience?

• For our trailer we wanted the audience to be entertained and want to see more of the film.

• We feel we have achieved this as feedback given to us was positive and they said they found it intense and exciting and that they would definitely like to see the full film after seeing the trailer.

What stylistic techniques were used to create audience appeal?

• To create appeal from the audience we used a number of stylistic techniques.

• In order to create an intense exciting trailer we used fast paced editing with a soundtrack that also adds to the ferocity.

• We also implemented the use of actors that were the intended audience’s age as they would like to go see a film they could relate to.

What media theories were utilized? Were the representations involved appropriate to the product?

• We used the uses and gratification theory in making this trailer. As we believe the audience are not passive and will watch it and take away that they should not go on the path of the main character.

• The representations were relevant to the product as they showed youth culture in a gritty and realistic way.

Who are your audience & what have you learned from your audience feedback?

• Our audience were young males 18-35 approximately – this is shown earlier in the blog. At this age, they would be able to relate to our protagonist, and would have a voyeuristic effect.

• We asked people to rate our production, and give opinions, which was helpful to us, if we were to improve it. It also helped us to see how effective our piece was, and how it followed common genres of gangster thrillers. We tried to improve our production after this feedback in the production stage, and added several shots, as our audience seemed confused at certain points.

• From the feedback, we could interpret what we did well, and what could have improved on, which helps us to follow the genre correctly, and also advance our work.
