Conveniently located in the heart of the business district, Eurocentres Vancouver is a fully-equipped modern facility only a few minutes away from an abundance of shops, restaurants and all major transit services. The innovative Eurocentres Success System has been developed over the last 60 years. Eurocentres is a leader in the field of foreign language training and is frequently consulted by the European Council on matters related to language develop-ment. Eurocentres is focused at all times on language learning success. Specialization

The Basic (Core Program) Course is offered in the morning, where we focus on laying a solid foundation in Language Development (grammar, vocabulary, idioms, pronunciation) and English Skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking). General English CoursesThe Teachers

At Eurocentres Canada, our team of qualified and experienced teachers is committed to your learning success. Varied and systematic teaching plans derived from the Eurocen-tres curriculum incorporate your learning needs and accelerate your progress.

Level Assessment and Progress

On your first day you will be tested on grammar, writing, speaking and listening so that you will be placed in a class suited to your level. During your course your progress is assessed through regular testing by your teachers. As you progress, you will change classes to ensure that you are always in the most suitable class for your level.

Class Size: 10-14

Prerequisite: General English courses open to all students 16 years or older.

Private Lessons can be booked separately or in addition to any Eurocentres Canada course.

Basic (Core Program) Course 20)

Each language course is based on the Basic (Core Program) Course of 20 morning les-sons per week. The Basic Course develops all aspects of your language competence in a personalized program coordinated by your core teacher. Courses integrate gram-matical structures and functions, guided conversations, pronunciation, speaking, listen-ing, reading, writing and vocabulary in order to advance your communicative compe-tency in all skill areas and to ensure a balance of fluency and accuracy. It includes 2-3 Study Club sessions per week plus 5 hours self-study in the Learning Centre.

Our General English (Fluency) elective focuses on listening and speaking to encourage students’ development of fluency skills through communicative practice and reinforce-ment. Presentations, project work and cooperative tasks are used to further develop confidence in spoken English.

Our Business English curriculum combines the best in academic business knowledge with practice for everyday business situations. This elective also includes practice with TOEIC.

This class is designed to focus specifically on writing and speaking for academic pur-poses. From sentence structure to writing comprehensive reports and oral presentations to formal debates, this class will give you the practice you need to achieve success at an academic level, both for college or university and on standardized English language exams.

TOEFLThe iBT TOEFL elective class is designed to help you achieve the score you need. Through regular assessment and exam practice, you will develop your skills so you can build confidence and be fully prepared for all parts of the exam.

Cambridge

The practical nature of the Cambridge exams makes this elective a perfect choice for anyone looking for a solid grounding in all skill areas. With a range of material drawn from different levels (FCE, CAE and CPE), you will benefit from exam skills practice while gain-ing practical English knowledge at the level best suited to you.

IELTSIELTS is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. Our IELTS elective class will help you prepare for this exam while improving your overall English language ability.

Pathway and Foundation ProgramsUniversity Success (Pathway) Program

This program provides a solid foundation in English Language for Academic Purposes in order to prepare you for study at one of our partner Post-Secondary Institutions. You will have 48, 36, 24 or 12 weeks of English language training (Specialized Super-Intensive Course) in which you will learn and develop your Eng-lish and academic skills and be provided with the tools needed for success in a Canadian university or college. From beginning to end, our Pathway Coordinator will be there to provide informa-tion, support, guidance and counseling.

Upon successful completion of your English course, you will have met the English language requirements for a variety of partner Canadian universities and colleges, eliminating the need for an institutional exam (i.e. IELTS, TOEFL, etc.).

During the post-secondary portion of your program, you will have the opportunity to study at one of our partner post-secondary institutions where you will work towards earning a certificate, undergraduate degree or post-graduate degree in one of a variety of academic disciplines. Foundation Year Program

Post-secondary institutions across Canada require international students to have the equivalent of a Canadian high school di-ploma for admissions. Depending upon the country where their high school diploma was earned, some students may need to take additional high school level classes to meet the university or college program entrance requirements.

Our Foundation Year Program provides students with the op-portunity to study at a Canadian high school, where they will not only continue to develop their English language and academic skills, but also have the opportunity to complete the high school requirements for their particular field of study. It offers the op-portunity to focus on particular fields of interest, learn about Canadian culture, and gain experience in the Canadian school system which will further prepare them for study at a post-sec-ondary level.

Completion of Eurocentres Level 8 is required to enter the Foun-dation Year Program and upon successful completion of this program students will continue with their studies at their selected Eurocentres pathway partner university or college.

Work and Study Program

This program helps students improve their English and gain valu-able paid work experience. Students will have the opportunity to both expand their language and career horizons and improve their chances in the job market of their home country. From coaching during the English portion of the course, to the orienta-tion they receive before their work-study, we take care in plac-ing students with a work-study that is right for them. Students enrolling in the Work & Study Program will have 12, 16, 24 or 32 weeks of English language training in our Specialized Intensive or Super-Intensive Course followed by a paid work experience of equal length. During the work portion of the program students will be placed in positions within the service industry (retail, res-taurants, café, etc). Work placement may include (sample list):

• Retail Salesperson • Store Clerk

• Host / Hostess • Delivery Person

• Food & Beverage Server • Line Cook

English Plus Work Experience / Internship Program

This program is the ideal formula for students to improve their linguistic ability while simultaneously gaining new professional work experience. Students taking the English Plus Work Experience / Internship program get a sense of the international business environment, get to know professional colleagues from Canada, expand language and career horizons and improve chances in the job market. From resumé writing and interview coaching, to setting up interviews at the end of the language course, we take care in placing you with an intern-ship that is right for you. Students enrolling in the English Plus Work Experience / Internship program will have 4 - 24 weeks of English language training in our Basic, Specialized Intensive or Super-Intensive Course followed by an unpaid internship of equal length. Popular internship fields include business, tourism, hospitality, marketing and banking. Internship placement may include (sample list):

Business English Diploma

The Eurocentres Canada Business English Diploma is awarded to students who complete the Work and Study Program, the Eng-lish Plus Work Experience Program or the Specialized Intensive or Super-Intensive Course with the Business English elective option for a minimum of 12 weeks. Students earning the Euro-centres Canada Business English Diploma will have the neces-sary Business English skills to compete in today’s increasingly competitive global workplace.

Accommodation

Homestay, residence and other accommodation options are offered through our unparalleled Accommodations Program. All host families and residences have been carefully inspected and are monitored on an on-going basis by our on-site Accom-modations Coordinators to guarantee students a positive experience wherever they choose to stay.

Homestay

Qualified and welcoming families provide students with private rooms, a place to study and the experience of living with a Canadian family. Students have the option of full or half board. We adhere to a policy of one student per language per home. All of our host families have been carefully selected and counselled on welcoming international students into their families. We carefully monitor our homestay program to guar-antee that all students have positive experiences and during the first week of school alone, we check in with students on three occasions to ensure that they are happy with their family.

Residences

With at least two options in each city, residences allow stu-dents to enjoy independent living conveniently located close to their school. In Toronto, students may choose from The Primrose Hotel and The Canadiana. Vancouver students may choose from the YWCA and the Buchan Hotel.

Other Accommodation arrangements

Hotels, bed & breakfasts, apartments or other accommoda-tion arrangements can be made upon request.

Airport Transfers

Trained airport staff provide a warm welcome when you arrive at Vancouver or Toronto airport. The airport staff will ensure your safe transfer to your Canadian home. Airport drop-off is also available to ensure a comfortable and worry-free trip to the airport.

Computer Lab

With computer labs in both of our downtown campuses, we offer the latest technology for all language abilities pre-loaded on our systems. CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learn-ing) lessons form part of the curriculum and the computer lab is integrated into our self-study plans. Computers can also be used for homework and research projects, e-mail, as well as test preparation. Additional e-mail computers are also avail-able in our student lounges. Wireless Internet is available at both Toronto and Vancouver campuses.

Application Procedures & Policies / Fees / Refund Policy / Calendar of Courses

Medical Insurance

StudentGuard medical insurance can be purchased through Eurocentres Canada at the time of registration or upon arrival. All students must have adequate medical coverage for their study period.

Transfer Between Schools

With sufficient notice, students can transfer between the Eurocentres Canada schools. Courses will be transferred on a pro-rata basis for an equivalent course. Transfers are subject to course availability and an administrative change fee. If homestay is also needed, students will be required to pay an additional accommodation placement fee.

Courses Abroad

Eurocentres Canada offers ‘language courses abroad’ in 7 different languages at 13 Eurocentres locations worldwide: Switzerland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Russia, Japan and China.

Group Programs

We have extensive experience in creating programs to meet the special needs of particular groups. These programs can be custom designed and can vary in duration and content to suit each individual group. We can create youth groups, high school and university exchange programs, as well as programs for business people or executives. A full range of exciting activities and excursions, including some of Canada’s top sightseeing destinations (Niagara Falls, Whistler Resort, Victoria) can be included with any group program as well as a choice of accommodation types. These programs are designed to develop basic English skills with a practi-cal emphasis, as well as to develop cultural awareness. This enables participants to understand and appreciate all aspects of Canadian life while improving their language ability.

Study Club, Self-Study, Conversation Club

Study Club is a chance for students to work with their peers on homework or on the study materials freely available in the Learning Centre together with a teacher. Conversation Club is a free component of our Social Program and a fantastic opportunity for students to practice their speaking and listen-ing while engaging in discussions about cur rent events and other topics.

Learning Centre

Our Learning Centres are quiet environments for students to improve their skills and enrich their cultural experiences. Each school has a range of multi-media materials that students can use and a lending library ideal for those who wish to study at home. The Learning Centre is also equipped with self-study worksheets (free for students) and other materials to help students enhance their studies.

Counselling

Counselling, including multi-lingual services, is available to help students with any aspect of their program and stay.
