Eurosport Health Day 2010 | 3
Euro Sport Health is a European-wide project which identifies and exchanges best practice for health promotion through sport at community level.
The initiative is made up of six organisations from five European Union countries and includes groups from local government, sport, research groups and universities.
All the groups carry out activities to promote health and wellbeing through sport and physical activity. They are:
• Diputació de Barcelona, Spain – project leader
• Belfast City Council • University of Castilla la Mancha,
Spain • Budapest Association of Sports
Federation, Hungary • Azienda USL della Valle d’Aosta,
Italy and• Cyprus Sports Organisation,
Cyprus.
The project aims to:
• promote the health benefits of sport and physical activity
• encourage people to take part in sport regularly
• promote the value and benefits of sport as a part of an active lifestyle
• create a network of organisations which can identify and exchange best practice.
Euro Sport Health project
As part of the Euro Sport Health project, we are hosting a series of sports events in Belfast to promote sport, health and physical activity.
The Teenage Kicks event in the Ulster Hall on Thursday 3 June will start the weekend with events also on the Friday and Saturday with the main activities taking place on Sunday 6 June with an official day of sport.
We have teamed up with the Belfast Maritime Festival to host fencing, taekwondo, dance and fitness classes at Clarendon Dock on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 June.
You can also have FREE access to our leisure centres on the official day of sport, Sunday 6 June so don’t miss this opportunity to be active.
As official event product sponsor, Lucozade Sport will also be providing drinks to participants who attend the activities.
Please view the timetable of events on offer and contacts for taking part.
