Rack Mounting (1) Attach the 2U Bracket to the

left rear rack pillar Insert the pins of the left hand

side slide rail in the 1st and 3rd hole counting from the bottom of the 2U Bracket

Rack Mounting (2) Push the M5 cage nut into the

2nd hole of the front rack pillar above the base line of the Controller Enclosure Secure the left hand side slide

rail to the front pillar using the M5 centering screw and M5 pan head screws

Rack Mounting (3) For the right hand side rail, insert the pins in the holes of the

rear pillar, and secure the other side of the slide rail to the front pillar in the same way as with the left slide rail

Rack Mounting (5) Fit the Controller Enclosure and/or Drive Enclosure to the rack For better stability, a rack is to be filled starting from the bottom

Power Cabling Connect the rack PDUs (Power Distribution Units) to

independent AC power phases Make sure that the AC

power switches on each Enclosure are turned off before connecting their power cables


Always follow the local power cabling regulations!

Backend Cabling (2) The Controller Enclosure and Drive Enclosures are connected

using proprietary SAS cabling The IN and OUT ports and connectors are coded with symbols and are

mechanically coded to prevent incorrect cabling • SAS (IN) port connector

• Plug for SAS (IN) port

• SAS (OUT) port connector

• Plug for SAS (OUT) port



Backend Cabling (1) Connect SAS (OUT) ports of the Controller Enclosure with the

SAS (IN) ports of the Drive Enclosure

Power On Procedure Power on ETERNUS from Controller Enclosure Push the Power Switch If everything is OK, the READY LED will go green in about three minutes

LEDs

POWER • Green when the power is turned on READY • Green when the system is available for use FAULT • Steady orange when a malfunctioning system

component has been detected • Blinking orange when a preventive replacement of

a system component is required IDENTIFY • Blinking blue when turned on from the

management software CACHE • Steady green when the cache is in use • Blinking green when a power failure has occurred

and the cache data has been stored in the CompactFlash memory

Power Off Procedure Power off the ETERNUS by pressing the Power switch of the

Controller Enclosure for 4 seconds You can power off also using the ETERNUS Web GUI

• Select menu [Utilities] [Shutdown/Restart System] The power supply of the device will shut down in 30 seconds

• If a reboot is chosen, the device will be rebooted after shutdown

Before shutting the system down Ask customer to confirm that all

Server I/O is stopped Check that the CACHE LED on

the Operation Panel is off

Make sure the CACHE LED of the Controller Enclosure is off

Initial Configuration (1) Basic connection guidelines and parameters for a connection

between the management computer and ETERNUS DX IP-address/Subnet mask ETERNUS MNT Port

• Default 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0 Set a fixed IP address for the computer to be connected to ETERNUS

• Needs to within the same IP address subnet with the ETERNUS MNT Port (for example 192.168.1.2)

Connect the LAN port of the computer to the ETERNUS MNT Port • Direct connection with normal or crossed cable

Web browser • Internet Explorer 6.0, 7.0 or 8.0 • Mozilla Firefox 3.0.x, 3.5.x and 3.6.x

Web browser settings • Do not use a proxy server or cache (Temporary Internet Files) • Enable Java Scripting, Style Sheets and Cookies

with the green Master LED on is enabled The LAN cable must go to the MNT port with the Master LED on

End of Initial Configuration Before logging off from the ETERNUS DX60 S2 Web GUI,

verify that all components have a condition "Normal" General status of the system in the Web GUI is "Normal" i.e. green All system LEDs are showing normal system status

ETERNUS SF To use the DX60 S2 with ETERNUS SF software, patch

v14.2A needs to be installed on the software server ETERNUS SF Express ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser

DX60 S2 starts shipping with SF Express v14.2 that will be replaced by v15.0 as soon as it becomes available
