Arrivederci, Roma!
This is the title of a song written in 1955 by Renato Rascel,
with texts by Pietro Garinei and Sandro Giovannini.
“Arrivederci” literally means “see you again”; indeed, the
song is inspired by the beauty of the Eternal City and by the
feelings that they induce on a tourist that is leaving.
We hope that you have enjoyed ETAPS’13, its scientific
events, its social events and the overall organization. The
numbers tell us that it was a success: around 650 participants, 609 papers submitted to the main conferences
(among which only 148 were accepted, leading to 24.3% as acceptance rate), 22 workshops, 3 tutorials, 2
celebrations.
After POPL’13 (held in January) and ETAPS’13 (now in March), we will have the pleasure and the honour of
hosting also CONCUR’14 in our beautiful city. See you soon, then!

A thematic journey into Rome: Shopping
Rome offers you several places where you can
find great souvenirs of your trip in Italy. Via
Condotti, Via Borgognona and Via Frattina are
three parallel streets start near Piazza di Spagna
that reach Via del Corso; they are the best known
highly expensive fashion in Rome. The atelier of
Bulgari opened in Via Condotti in 1905; Armani,
Hermès, Cartier, Ferragamo and Battistoni (the
latter was a tailor favoured by the late Duke of
Windsor) are located here. Via Borgognona hosts
Via Cola di Rienzo, Via Ottaviano and Viale
Giulio Cesare form one of the most important
areas for shopping and cafés in the city: next to
many family owned, unbranded shops, there are
several boutiques, like Trussardi, Energy, Diesel
Jeans, Miss Sixty, Armani and Benetton.
Another picturesque shopping street is Via
Margutta, a small street near Piazza di Spagna,
with art galleries, restaurants and antique dealers.

more fashion houses, including Fendi,
Dolce & Gabbana, Laura Biagiotti or
Gai Mattiolo. A walk through Via del
Corso will also lead you to a charming
gallery that takes its name after the
famous Italian actor Alberto Sordi.
An association known as “I Cento Pittori di Via Margutta” (100 painters of Via Margutta)
turns the street into an open-air art gallery during spring and autumn; several art galleries
are present and open to visitors all the year.
Touristic gifts can be found in every touristic area of the city and are available at different
budgets: you will surely find the one that fits your needs!
