Estonian Disaster Relief Team
• Established in 1997 to help fight a large forest fire in Estonia and to take part in NATO/Partnership for Peace exercise Co-Operative Safeguard ’97
• Official and institutionalised national rescue unit organised by the Estonian Rescue Board. Legal basis established by Government decree dated 22nd June 2001
• Modular in concept, providing flexibility for various types of mission

EDRT – range of possible missions
• Urban Search & Rescue (Medium to Heavy – according to INSARAG classification)
• Medical assistance – up to 12 bed field hospital with 16 medical personnel, operating theatre with 2 operating tables.
• Chemical rescue and decontamination (CBRN)
• EOD (explosive ordnance disposal)
• Logistical support of rescue and humanitarian operations
