What are estate walkabouts? The estate walkabouts are an opportunity for you as tenants to tell us about where you live and any issues you may have. By working together we strive to improve communities for all. Where do they take place? Estate walkabouts take place across Tamworth Borough Council and are the result of either tenant requests or highlighted as areas where there are ongoing issues. Examples of issues often raised by tenants are:

� Anti-social behaviour � Fly-tipping � Grafitti

You can attend the Estate walkabout on the day or if you prefer or are less mobile you can tell us your concerns by telephone or completing the feedback sheet that arrives with your invitation. The feedback sheets can be handed back to Marmion House or handed to a member of staff on the day. Residents complaining about communal grass areas being churned up by people parking on it

Residents were sent reminder letters that they should not be parking on the grass.

Vandalised wall in Craven Taken down to ground level as it serves no purpose and is a health & safety concern.

Fly-tipping of a tyre Removed on the day

Graffiti across the estate After the estate walkabout the area experienced a high volume of graffiti. This put the clearance of the area past the 2 month deadline. Street Wardens, Street Scene and the Caretaking Team are working in partnership to improve the area.

Underpass is messy with rubbish and needs a general tidy up

Overgrown shrubbery at a particular area. Tenants reported that this is a hot spot ASB. Tenants requested the metal fencing to remain but would like to see all the shrubbery cut down to ground level

Street Scene/ Community Payback cleared the area within 2 days. The metal fencing remained in place as requested by tenants

Graffiti across the estate Cleaned by the Caretaking Team within 17 working days, within the proposed 2 month deadline.

2 Large Wickes's grab bags of sand have been left on the communal grass area in Beech Road.

Removed by the Caretaking Team with 17 working days

Health and safety issue highlighted - Hole in pathway near to large open space and insecure barriers.

A representative from Highways Authority was in attendance on the estate walkabout and telephoned straight through to County to get the problem sorted and to have the safety barriers put back. Staffordshire County Council then arranged a repair.

Comberford Road – a wall is in need of major repairs

Inspected by Repairs Officer at Tamworth Borough Council who authorised the wall to be removed as it served no purpose.

Action planning After each Estate walkabout, those that attend prioritise works highlighted to either a one week priority or a non-emergency 2 month priority. The Tenant Involvement Team then collate all information within an excel spreadsheet and this is then forward to the various departments/partners/service areas to be actioned. On completion of the works, the spreadsheet is updated This is reported through the tenants’ quarterly newsletter ‘Open House’ and on the Council’s website.
