State Teams ChampionshipsToowoomba Grammar School Year 9 student, William Salmond has been selected in the Queensland Team that will compete at the 2018 State Teams Championships in Canberra.

Australian States and Territories will go head-to-head in this annual, team-based competition, at the Australian Institute of Sport from Wednesday, 3 – Friday, 5 October 2018.

This team event was first held in 2009, and following its huge success, has been an integral part of the National swimming calendar ever since. 2018 will mark its tenth year, and to date, QLD is the only State to ever win this event!

William will attend a Queensland Swimming camp at the AIS in Brisbane during the September school holidays. This camp is in the lead up to the Australian State Challenge meet.

WINTER CARNIVALThe short course season is in full swing with the TGS Swimming Club hosting their annual winter meet on Sunday 22 July. It was the most successful meet for the club to date, with 50 more competitors than last year. Over 200 swimmers from around South East Queensland took part in the meet.

This Qualifying Meet was a lead in to the Queensland Short Course Championships which were held at Chandler in Brisbane from 17-19 August. Once again our TGS swimmers performed exceptionally well at this competition.

Naia Anderson won Gold in the 800m Freestyle, Juert Eerkens collected Silver medals in the 100m Individual Medley and the 100m Backstroke and Joesphine Illing won Bronze in the 11 years girls 400m Freestyle.
