What are coffee pods?

Pods are individual servings of fresh ground coffee. Each one contains an exact measurement of pre-tamped ground coffee which is enclosed in filter paper and sealed in an air-tight, oxygen free pouch.

To make an espresso, you simply remove the pod from the pouch and place it in the espresso machine’s pod holder or group handle and pour.

How pods are made

The Original ESE Paper pod is manufactured in a HACCP approved facility.

The pods are produced on equipment imported from Italy, the home of coffee and the ESE Pod.

Coffee beans are loaded into the hopper (left).

The beans are moved via suction into the grinder (right).

The coffee beans are ground (left).

The freshly ground coffee is held for less than 1 minute in the hopper (right).

The coffee is dosed and tamped between two pieces of permeable paper (left).

The newly made pod is sealed in a nitrogen flushed pouch (right).

The pouches are packed into boxes (left).

The boxes are stacked onto pallets for transportation (right).

Available in two group configuration with an eleven and a half litre boiler in a tank or plumbed version.
