BE  ENGAGED!  In   order   to   learn,   you   must   be   an   active   participant   in   the  process.     This  means   that   it   is   crucial   that   you  be   involved   in  every  lesson  at  all  times.    Answer  and  ask  questions,  volunteer  to   participate   in   demonstrations   and   discussions,   and  cooperate  with  group  members.    Be  prepared  for  class;  bring  all  your  materials  and  completed  assignments.

BE  PRESENT!  In   order   to   learn,   you   must   be   present   -‐   both   physically   and  mentally.     It’s   difficult   to   make   up   work   missed   in   a   world  language  classroom.    Most  of  what  takes  place  during  class   is  listening   to   Spanish   being   spoken,   then   responding   through  speaking.    These  communicative  interactions  are  impossible  to  re-‐create  when  you  are  absent   from  class.     If   you  do  have   to  miss   a   class,   please   check   our   Edmodo   site   for   updates   and  assignments:   www.hcpss.edmodo.com/home.       You   can   also  contact   me   directly   through   Edmodo,   or   via   my   contact  information.

• 1st  Warning  -‐  Verbal  reminder  to  be  on  task  • 2nd  Warning  -‐  Yellow  Card:  Talk  to  Sra.  Espitia  after  class  • 3rd  Warning  -‐  Red  Card:  Parent  contact  &  lunch

detention

BE  CONNECTED!  We   will   be   setting   up   accounts   with   various   websites   to  supplement  what  we  do  in  class.    These  websites  include,  but  are  not  limited  to:  • Realidades  I  Online  Textbook    • Edmodo    (a  sheltered,  online  classroom  management  system)  • Twitter    @SraEspitia    (follow  me  for  resources  in  Spanish)

Students  are  responsible  for  following  all  HCPSS  Policies,  including  these:  • Use  these  sites  for  educational  purposes  only.    Everything  posted  is  relevant  and

appropriate  for  school.  • Keep  usernames  and  passwords  secure  and  do  not  share  them  with  other  students

for  any  reason.  • Access  only  those  websites  approved  by  Sra.  Espitia  while  in  class.
