ESOS Assessment
• Measure all energy use for a continuous 12 month period
• Undertake audits covering all their main areas of energy consumption
• Report compliance to the Environment Agency, as scheme administrator by the compliance date.

Energy audits
• At least 90% of total energy use is subject to ESOS energy audits or an alternative route to compliance:
(i) where an entity has in place an energy management system (certified to ISO 50001 Standard)
(ii) where an entity has in place an energy audit through the Green Deal or to obtain Display Energy Certificates (DECs) (where accompanied by recommendation report)

Using existing energy audits to support compliance
• Work undertaken to obtain other audits and assessments:
- Carbon trust standard
- Green fleet review
- Work undertaken as part of an energy or environmental management system (e.g. ISO 140001 Environmental Management System)
- Data gathered under CRC or other governmental schemes

• Boiler replacement
- capital cost
- utilisation cost
- maintenance/running costs
