A.Biomes1. large region characterized by climate
2. climate = weather conditions in an area over a long period of time• different than weather – i.e. whatever is
happening outdoors at a given time• e.g. Just because it rained this weekend, it
doesn’t mean the climate of Sacramento is “very rainy”.
B. Biome Climates1. specifically, each biome has its own
unique temperature and amount of precipitation
because of its unique climate, each biome has its own unique plant and animal species
Based on the map… What biomes are found here in California?
C. World Biomes1. Regions/countries in different parts of
the world can have the SAME biomes2. why? • they have the same temperature and
amount of rainfall!
What does this graph show us?
Check Yo’Self Sacramento and California's central valley falls within the temperate grassland biome category. What is the most precipitation a grassland biome is likely to receive in a year?
around 110 CM!
