How did we get this:

Page 4: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

From this?

Page 5: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

It all began with this guy:

The

designer

of the All

Weather

Recycling

Station.

Darone

Diamond

So what was

our Vision/Goal

& what was our

Mission?

Page 11: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

Vision/Goal:

Dealing with rubbish and refuse at

Mangakahia Area School in a positive

way to uphold the values of

enviroschools and allow us to become

a Minimal Waste Organisation that will

contribute to a sustainable future within

our school.

Page 12: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

Mission:We will encourage students within

Mangakahia Area School to accept

ownership and guardianship

(kaitiaki) throughout Mangakahia

Area School, so they will display

positive attitudes that will assist in

creating a minimal waste future for

the school and contribute towards a

sustainable future.

Page 13: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

How did it all

begin?

Page 14: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

As far as we can

tell we think that

Darone’s thought

process was

something like this:

Page 15: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint
Page 16: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

And so the All

Weather

Recycling Station

was born

Page 17: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

We then had to decide:

How does this action

relate to the 4 Aspects

of Sustainability?

Page 18: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

Diagram showing 4 Aspects of Sustainability

And the Interdependence between them.

The 4

Aspects of

Sustainability

Environmental

CulturalSocial

Economical

Page 19: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

•This whole school will be involved

in this action as will individuals

from outside the school, creating

links between the different year

groups within Mangakahia Area

School and links with

organisations and the community

outside Mangakahia Area School.

Social

Page 20: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

•We have done this as a school

project and through that we have

been able to apply for funding

and financial aid to assist in our

project. We are also budgeting

and logging all expenses in a

ledger book.

Economical

Page 21: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

•This action will focus the

school towards becoming

more sustainable and will

implement a more sustainable

recycling system within our

school.

Environmental

Page 22: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

•Tangata whenua ‘The cleaners

of the land’ and kaitiaki –‘Guardianship of the school and

land’ will also be very important

to us while planning and

implementing this action.

Cultural

Page 23: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

Landscaping began

Page 24: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint
Page 25: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

Which also meant that

the paperwork and

hours of collaborative

discussion began

Page 26: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint
Page 27: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

Then the building

began

Page 28: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

Profiling and

boxing were the

first steps

Page 29: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint
Page 30: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

Then came the

concreting

Page 31: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint
Page 32: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

Meanwhile I was

concentrating on my

personal action of Promoting

the All Weather Recycling

Station. This involved

organising the Opening Day

Ceremony of the All Weather

Recycling Station.

Page 33: Erin's e.f.s powerpoint

This involved

creating posters

and flyers and

talking to the

different classes
