The Heart of the Community

FROM THE PRINCIPAL A Night on Broadway: After a term of practice, our students from the Darug section of the school are ready to perform their amazing dances. Each class has chosen a tune from a Broadway musical. Dance teacher Brooke has devised the routines and provided some of the costumes. All is ready… but are you. Tickets are still on sale for both nights, all members of the community are welcome, so come, bring family and friends to enjoy the performance. Follow this link to purchase tickets: https://www.trybooking.com/BCZDG https://www.trybooking.com/509112 The canteen will be open on these night and will sell light refreshments before the performances and during the intermissions. Our thanks go to Ms Assad and her team of teachers who have combined to present this event to you and the students who have worked very hard to learn their dance moves. Next term it will be the Guringai section of the school who will be the dancers. Their theme and dances will be different but still an amazing experience for the students. Uniforms: Congratulations to all those classes who have won a Uniform Eppie over the last few weeks. With the colder weather it is important to remember that only uniform clothing should be worn. The school jackets are warm particularly with a school jumper underneath. However we know that it occasionally warms up during the day and students take off their jackets. Please ensure that every item of clothing is clearly l. Road Safety: Just a friendly reminder for your child’s safety. When using the Kiss and Drop area in the morning, please ask your child to use the kerb side door to leave your vehicle. It is extremely dangerous to use the driver’s side door under any circumstances. School Bands: Today our school Concert Band performed at the Band Eisteddfod at Chatswood. Tomorrow the Symphonic Band will perform at the same venue. I am sure they will play tunefully and be all the better for the experience that performance to a live audience can give.

PSSA SOCCER

Last Friday, the PSSA A Team played against West Pennant Hills. Although it was a good game the other team won 8-0. The player of the match is Jarrell for his excellent attacking. In the end, our team had lots of fun and tried hard. We also achieved a milestone because Joshua in the B team scored our first goal of the season between both teams. Vishesh 6/5P Last Friday, the B Team went to Pennant Hills Park and played against West Pennant Hills. It was a very close game, and at half-time we were winning 1-0. Although in the end we lost 4-1 it was a fun game. The man of the match was Joshua for scoring the first goal of the season! Aniket 6/5H

Overdue Books Overdue book notices will be sent home this week. This is a good opportunity to have a look around at home for any books that need returning to the library before the end of term. If you have lost a book or think that a book has already been returned to the library please make a note on the Overdue Notice and return it to your child’s teacher. Lost books will need to be replaced and we ask that parents make a contribution to the cost of the book.

Stage 2 Project Manager Interview

On Thursday, Stage 2 interviewed two managers from our new school build.

Lisa and Rosie taught Stage 2 about the sustainable elements in the new building.

Stage 2 have been designing and creating their sustainable school through our Geography Digital Unit Project. Students collected recyclable materials and created a design process in order to explain best ways they can teach people how to 'recycle, reduce and reuse' within their sustainable schools.

I was surprised that they are using solar panels for the new building, I thought electricity would come from the normal grid- Shree Ram 3Z

It was very interesting to learn that they use recyclable timber to surround the concrete when they pour it- Thomas 3Z

Building Construction Update Since the last newsletter, construction activities at Epping PS have encompassed the completion of services rough-in, wall sheeting and ceiling framing across Levels 1, 2 and 3. The metal roofing, guttering and roof height safety installation is also complete. The Contractor has commenced the high-level cladding and window installation, which will allow the scaffold be dropped incrementally over the coming months.

Our Project Reference Group will continue to meet on a monthly basis to discuss upcoming construction activities. Visit the School Infrastructure NSW’s website, for further information concerning the School upgrade: https://www.schoolinfrastructure.nsw.gov.au/projects/e/epping-public-school.html
