Every mainframe command has a full name andan abbreviated name. Hence different syntaxesare possible between the minimum andmaximum number of characters to enter whentyping a command.

The presentation used in this booklet forindicating these different possible syntaxes is togive the full name of the command and to putbetween brackets the characters which areallowed but not necessary:

The syntax used for the command for listingrecords (..LI) is presented as: ..LI(ST):

the minimum required by EPOQUE is ..LI(abbreviation),the full name of the command is ..LIST,the syntax ..LIS is recognized by EPOQUE,the syntaxes ..L or ..LISTING generate errormessages.

Parameters associated to commands might alsohave abbreviated and full name. In order toavoid a difficult readibility of the commands, these different syntaxes are mentioned onlyonce per command. Any combination betweenthe syntaxes of the command and of itsassociated parameters is possible:

The parameter NONSTOP of the command..LI is presented as:

..LI(ST) NONST(OP):Any combination between the 3 syntaxes ofthe command (..LI, ..LIS or ..LIST) and the 3possible syntaxes of the parameter (NONST,NONSTO or NONSTOP) is allowed,

    e.g. ..LIS NONSTO.

    Remarks:

The permanent options can temporarily bechanged by the ..OP command. The settingsof the temporary options are effective duringthe current session, i.e. until the session isstopped by the command ..ST EN. At a newsession, the parameters are set to their defaultvalue, i.e. the value of the permanent workingoptions.

The truncation qualifiers /SEL and /ALL takeprecedence on the value of the TRUNparameter.

The command ..OP TRUN NONST / AUTOworks only on truncations. The extraction ofindexed terms for the requested truncation(s)stops automatically at 30.000 differentretrieved indexed terms and no result is thenprovided.Searching ranges of terms is interrupted afterevery 1000 found indexed terms and thequestion Continue Y/N has to be answered.

The ..OP DET ON / OFF is equivalent to the..DET ON / OFF command. Using the

command ..DET changes the settings of the..OP command accordingly. The DET optionof the ..OP command keeps the DET mode setby the user from one cluster to the other.

The parameter NL, PRG or SEN used in a ..FOcommand takes precedence on the value setby the parameter NLFOC of the ..OPcommand.

Only the boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT)are allowed when combining a query with theSS having a ..LIM command generated with..OP LIM LIGHT. The highlight is lost sincethe position of the found terms in thesentences and paragraphs of the field is notstored.

In CLUSTERS, The parameter TRUN is automatically set to

NONST and the parameter SSZ to SV. Hencethese parameters can NOT be changed.

The options set before entering into a clusterare set back once the cluster is left.

A field name is the abbreviation used for thesearch (e.g. PN), its field title is the descriptioncorresponding to the field name (e.g. Patentnumber). The parameters FLDN and FLDTmay be used simultaneously.

Each database has its own predefined pagesettings used by the commands ..LI, ..BR,..FO, ..LP and ..PR. However the command..FO can NOT be used with the parameterPSET.

The FROM parameter can only be used withthe ..PSET command without any pagesettings parameters. It then lists the pagesettings predefined for the ACTIVE databaseand the page settings defined by the user.

The page settings defined by the user arecommon to all databases and hence theparameter FROM is ignored for the CREATIONof user page settings.

There is no way to delete a user defined pagesetting.

In CLUSTERS,no page setting can be created: only thedisplay of defined page settings is allowed.
