Electrical Power Management System - Battery (EPMS)
Description:
• The EPMS, on the Genesis, measures temperature, amperage, and voltage through a battery sensor and sends the data to the ECM. The ECM then calculates State of Charge (SOC) and determines the amount of charge.
• The Battery is located in the trunk of the Genesis and the Battery Sensor is located on the negative battery terminal.

EPMS - Charging System Operation
Operation:
• EPMS data is sent from the battery sensor to the ECM.
• The ECM will monitor the SOC, compare other vehicle conditions and determine the charging voltage.
• Battery voltage will vary due to different operating conditions and system strategy (12.7-14.2 volts).

EPMS – Initial Ignition Charging Sequence
At start-up, theBattery is charged for 120 - 150 seconds
After 150 seconds the System goes into Discharge mode; until the voltage drops below 12.7V orSOC less than 85%
When the SOC drops below 85%,the ECM will use the feedback Voltage to manage the charging until the correct SOC is achieved
