Gain the skills and knowledge needed to successfully work in the welding field. EOC instructors use a combination of hands-on practice and classroom instruction to teach students the skills needed to win competitive positions.

Graduates find employment with local unions,and private contractors in the steel and construction industries.

Program ScheduleThe Welding program is 400 hours. Students canchoose from daytime and evening classes to fittheir schedule.

Welding students learn the latest welding techniques needed for securing competitive jobs.Skills learned include:• Shielded metal arc welding • Gas metal arc welding (MIG)• Gas Tungsten arc welding (TIG)• Flux cored arc welding • Pipe welding • Stainless steel welding• Aluminum welding• 10-hour OSHA construction-safety

training

LocationThe EOC’s Welding and Welding Upgrade programs are held at the Troy facility, 431 River Street, Troy, NY 12180.

Individuals interested in obtaining advanced American Welding Society (AWS) and New York StateDepartment Of Transportation (DOT) certificationscan enroll in the EOC’s 48-hour Welding Upgradeprogram.

To enroll: Attend the EOC Admissions process at8:15 a.m. every Tuesday at the Troy Facility or everyFriday at 8:15 a.m. at the Albany Facility. Plan to stayuntil noon.

Program requirements:To enter the program you will need a High SchoolDiploma or GED.

Certification demonstrates your commitment to a chosen profession and can lead to better job opportunities, career advancement and job security. In the field of Welding, specific certifications are required to find employment.

Certifications available to Welding students include:

• OSHA 10-hour construction-safety training (required)

• NYS Department of Transportation (DOT) 1” steel plate certification

• American Welding Society (AWS) Certifications

• National Work Readiness Credential (NWRC)

Certifications available to Welding Upgrade students include:

• Advanced American Welding Society (AWS) certifications

• NYS Department of Transportation 3/8” steel plate certification
