Policy objective: To ensure sustainable access to clean water and safe sanitation, whilst protecting the integrity of natural ecosystems.

Sector Outcome 2: Cleaner Air and Effective Climate Change Responses

Policy objective: To reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions for healthier ecosystems and human well-being

Policy objective: To reduce the volume of waste at source, encourage a recycling culture and promote innovative reuse of waste for more efficient use of resources and healthier ecosystems.

Data for some indicators are available, but They are generated and stored at different places

They use different definitions and classifications

Not collected on a regular basis

Vary significantly in quality and coverage

What is needed? An agreed list of environmental indicators for Env.Sect.Str. and other purposes (e.g. MDG,

UNFCCC)

Data collection strategy for each environmental topic

Environment Statistics can even be developed without indicators and a clear policy context, but then it might miss the target!
