CompetitionThe competition will be judged in two stages.

First stage: Competitors will need to submit two Oriental dishes as written entries by Thursday 5th March 2020. Finalists will be chosen and invited to the final. Win g Yip will notify successful applicants by Monday 16th March 2020.

Final: On Wednesday 22 April 2020. Finalists will compete in a cook-off at University College Birmingham.

Finalists will be given a time slot to compete during the day and the winner and runners-up will be announced during an evening dinner.

Finalists will need to present:

◆ Two different Oriental dishes of choice. Twoportions of each, one of which must be served ina bowl.

◆ At least one Wing Yip product from the list belowmust be used in each dish. All products will beavailable on the day:

Finalists will be assessed based on the following criteria:

Rules* If you are successful the dishes you submit in your written entry must be cooked in the final. Each chosen dish must be named as you would read on a menu. All listed Wing Yip products will be available on the day for you to use. Competitors are asked to bring a copy of their chosen recipes and brief method along with them for the final. Samples of your chosen Wing Yip products are available on request.

* The following is allowed; pre-weighed ingredients, vegetables and fruit washed and peeled but not cut, basic stocks but not totally reduced, unfinished broths, uncooked pastry, food marinated but not cooked, butchered meat.

Finalists will be required to prepare, cook and present in 1 ¾ hours, two different authentic Oriental dishes of their choice (two portions of each, one dish must be served in a bowl). Finalists will be required to provide their own ingredients (excludes Wing Yip products) for both courses as well as small and specialist equipment and presentation items. The following will be made available to finalists: Wing Yip products for use in dishes, work station with fridge, gas rings and conventional oven, salamander grill, fryer/combi oven, deep freeze and blast chiller facility.

Criteria for entryTo enter you must be a working or student chef between the ages of 18 and 25, on Wednesday 22 April 2020.

Terms and conditions: All entrants must be working or student chefs. All entrants must be between the ages of 18 and 25, on Wednesday 22nd April 2020. Proof of age will be required. All submitted entries must be original and Wing Yip reserves the right to publish any submitted material. Chosen finalists must provide their own ingredients and any specialist equipment. The judges’ decision is final. The competition winner will be required to participate in PR/Marketing activity, social media activity and a maximum of three appearances from the competition date up to and including April 2021. Entries will not be accepted from those who are employed by or related to a person who is employed by Wing Yip. No entries will be accepted after Thursday 5th March 2020. Successful finalists will be notified after this date.
