WHO WE AREAs climate change poses significant

challenges and opportunities for low-income and minority communities, three national

Latino organizations joined forces to launch the National Latino Coalition on Climate

Change (NLCCC). The National Puerto Rican Coalition (NPRC), the Labor Council for Latin

American Advancement (LCLAA) and the Hispanic Federation are working

collaboratively to ensure that Latinos have an integral voice in the national dialogue on

climate change.

REGIONAL LEADERSHIP BRIEFINGS ON CLIMATE

CHANGE

The work of the NLCCC has initially been focused on educating the Latino community through a series of Regional Latino Leadership Briefings that convene issue experts, regional leaders, community activist networks, and others in shared learning opportunities.

CURRENT ACTIVITIES & PROJECTS

APRIL 2010- POLL OF LATINOS ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY POLICYNLCCC commissioned a poll of 900 Latino voters in Florida,Colorado and Nevada. We held a teleconference and a Congressional briefing to communicate our findings to the public and lawmakers.

EARTH DAY LAUNCH OF LATINO YOUTH OUTINGSWe are promoting active and healthy behavior by bringing kids to the outdoors to explore nature and learn about careers in the environmental field.

JULY 10th- NLCCC BRIEFING AT NCLR CONFERENCEThe National Council of La Raza conference brings together thousands of Latino leaders and activists from all over the country to discuss problems and solutions to issues affecting their respective communities.

AUGUST 4th- NLCCC BRIEFING AT LCLAA’S NATIONAL CONVENTIONLatino and Latina trade unionists will gather to learn about green jobs and what they as union presidents, representatives and organizers can do to fight climate change.
