REPORT :

1) OVERVIEWSongs have been part of the human experience for as long as we can remember. Songs have

become an integral part of our language experience, and if used in coordination with a languagelesson they can be of great value. Research have found that songs can develop the four skill areasof reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Thus, songs can be used:

To reinforce grammatical structures To embed new vocabulary To teach natural pronunciation efficiently To create a relaxed classroom atmosphere To bring variety and fun to learning

Songs would also provide a break from classroom routine, and that learning English through songs

develops a non-threatening classroom atmosphere in which the four language skills can beenhanced.

PROCEDURES:i) Students were given a worksheet each and they had to fill in the missing words.ii) Song was being played repeatedly ( four times )iii) Students were given 20 minutes to discuss in a group of two.iv) Students listened to the song one last time before passing up the worksheet.

2) STRENGTHSStudents had shown great interest and enthusiasm for learning the English language.

3) WEAKNESSESStudents lack of vocabulary and still weak in spelling.

4) SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVEIntroduce and expose students to more inspirational English songs.
