We believe that one curriculum is not suitable for all pupils which is why we are running 3 different pathways. In deciding which pathway to place your daughter on, we have looked at a number of areas including ability, aptitude, report comments and tracking data over time. THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM:

Our Key Stage 4 Programme for the PINK pathway.

We have a three year Key Stage 4 which requires pupils to make their GCSE/BTEC option choices in Year 8. We believe that one curriculum is not suitable for all pupils which is why we are running 3 different pathways. In deciding which pathway to place your daughter on, we have looked at a number of areas including ability, aptitude, report comments and tracking data over time. We have taken great care to place your daughter on the pathway which will enable her to achieve to her full potential. Your daughter is on the PINK pathway.

A number of subjects will be part of the school core curriculum for the PINK pathway during Key Stage 4:

English Language English LiteratureMathematicsScience (Double or Triple – decided during Key Stage 4)A Modern Foreign Language: either French or GermanAn ICT qualification (Level 2 Certificate - part of Year 10

curriculum only)Religious Education Physical Education (not examined)Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (not

examined)

In addition to the PINK core curriculum above, your daughter has 3 more option choices to make from the blocks below. We are strongly recommending the selection of Geography or History for pupils on this pathway. By doing MFL and a Humanity, it means that your daughter will qualify for the additional English Baccalaureate Qualification. She does not have to do anything extra to gain this but must achieve C grades in English, Maths, Science, one MFL and one Humanity. We appreciate that for some girls on this pathway, one of the Humanities is really not the right choice, which is why we have made it optional – please discuss this with your Geography and History teachers before making a final decision!

A copy of the Options Form that your daughter needs to complete is on the next page and it has been completed as an example. It is important to note that whilst every effort will be made to accommodate first choices and to run all courses, this may not always be possible due to a number of constraints (eg: staffing, facilities, class sizes etc). This is why we ask for second choices as well – it is important that these are also carefully selected.
