Dear students and parents,

As you may already know, classes will be virtual instead of in-person until further notice. Luckily, both teachers and students havehad experience with this type of learning last semester.Nevertheless, this does not mean that because of this, you are worry- free or even ready for what is to come this school year. Regardless, my goal is to create a remote learning experience that is organized, effective, and accommodating to students and parents.

Though we can all agree that we believe education is important, more importantly, I value the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of my students and their families the most. I am assured that by making this my top priority, student will be better able to learn.

The lessons given to students will be based on 7th grade Georgia Standards of Excellence and follow the pacing guide created by Dekalb County. Moreover, students will not just be given tasks to complete without actual teaching. I will be using evidence and research- based strategies to ensure that students are being delivered content in a way that is meaningful and relevant. I will be thorough in my explanation and generous in my examples and models of activities. My focus is quality over quantity to ensure that our learning environment is relevant and engaging.

The line of communication will be open and varied, so that parents and students can contact me in a timely fashion. This means that Iwill be available through email, over the phone, Remind, and even video conferences as requested.

Ultimately, I am committed to lessening the burdens of students and families by doing all that I can to make online- learning at the least, tolerable and at the most, exciting and fun!

Como ya sabrá, las clases serán virtuales en lugar de presenciales hasta nuevo aviso. All assignments will be paired with video lessons, examples, and models.

The posting of assignments and possible zoom meetingswill be based on the schedule that HMS puts out.Because of this, I will not include specific days or timesfor lessons and assignments until I have more information. However, I will keep students and parentsupdated through email, Remind, and our class website.
