Grades

Grades are based on points for: Presentations Short Writing assignments Quizzes Tests

Your grade is determined by the number of points you’ve earned divided by the number of points possible.

Attendance Policy

More than 4 unexcused absences will result in a lowering of 3 points off your final grade. E.G. if you miss 5 classes with an

unacceptable excuse and your final grade is 60%, you would earn a 57% final grade.

Three tardies equals 1 absence.

Late Assignments

If an assignment is late, you lose 10% of the total points per day. So if a writing assignment’s value is 20

points, but is 2 days late, you lose 4 points.

You may only turn in a late assignment if you notify me that there’s a problem 24 hours in advance.

I will not accept an assignment that is more than one week late.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is dishonesty in school work.

It includes: Handing in a paper from the internet as

your own original work, Handing in writing that you did not write

yourself, and Handing in a paper you wrote for another

course.

Consequences of Plagiarism

Work that is plagiarized will receive zero points, an F.

If you plagiarize, you are likely to fail the course.

You do not need to plagiarize. You are all too smart. If you need help with an assignment, I can help you. It is unwise to try to cheat.

Cheating

Students who cheat on exams, will receive 0 points.

No cell phones are allowed with the student while taking an exam. If you are found to have a cell phone in

or around your desk while taking an exam, you will receive a zero for that exam. Period. End of story.
