T O T H E M E D S H A R E C O M M U N I T Y , What an extraordinary year it’s been at MedShare! As you will see reflected in the beautiful stories, photos and data compiled in our Fiscal Year 2012 Annual Report, the MedShare team has energetically worked in partnership with a diverse range of organizations, individuals and corporations to bridge the gap between surplus and need over the past twelve months.

MedShare has continued its successful trajectory of growth, celebrating both our 700th and 800th container shipments of humanitarian aid and forging ahead with further expansion efforts in California, as well as new growth opportunities in New York and South Florida. This growth allows us to efficiently collect more high quality surplus so that we meet ever-growing needs across the globe. The over $18 million worth of medical supplies and equipment shipped in 127 ocean containers this year is a testament to the tremendous support from our generous network of supporters and partners. We are pursuing this growth while also maintaining a laser-like focus on quality and staying true toMedShare’s guiding principle of keeping our recipients at the center of our programs. The MedShare team is continuously innovating and seeking new, high-impact and sustainable ways to provide high-quality supplies and equipment. For example, based on partner feedback, we have implemented new initiatives around shipping clean birthing kits and have also expanded our biomedical training and technical service program.

MedShare remains steadfastly committed to making a difference locally both by reducing the direct impact of medical surplus disposal on our environment and by supporting free and safety-net clinics. This year, we’ve kept over 325,000 cubic feet of medical surplus out of landfills and earned several prestigious environmental awards. A vital component of the MedShare model is our world-class volunteer program. We provide each of our 17,000 volunteers with a unique opportunity for local community building and meaningful civicengagement.

So there you have it – a proven approach that has once again yielded outstanding results. We arecontinuing to diligently build on the foundation established by our amazing Co-Founder and former CEO, A.B. Short. The MedShare model is pretty straightforward and yet, it generates an unusual three-for-one social good return on investment. We improve access to health care across the globe by providing critical supplies and equipment; we protect our environment by keeping perfectly good medical surplus out of the landfill; and, we support community building by providing high-impact volunteer experiences. That’s a whole lot ofgoodness, and none of it would be possible without your ongoing support. Thanks so much for all that you do to help us SHARE THE GOOD with thousands of people and communities in need around the world.

In service,

Meridith L. Rentz, MBA/MPHCEO & President

B I O M E D I C A L T R A I N I N G + T E C H N I C A L S E R V I C E SAccording to the World Health Organization, in some countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, up to 7 0 % of donated equipment lays idle due to the mismanagement of the technology acquisition process, lack of user-training and the lack of effective technical support. To address the staggering demand for biomedical equipment, MedShare has created a state-of-the-art BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING PROGRAM aimed at providing the highest quality refurbished equipment possible to our healthcare facility recipients. MedShare has expanded services to provide training workshops conducted by our biomedical engineering staff in response to the shortage of biomedical training available in recipient countries.

In a continuing effort to deliver high-quality medical equipment to our partners, the Western Region Distribution and Volunteer Center built a new biomedical lab in FY 2012. Generously funded by the Grey Family Foundation, the state-of-the-art lab houses test equipment, tools and other resources to ensure that we ship fully-testedequipment and is staffed by an experienced biomedical technician.

This fiscal year, we shipped 2,500 pieces of biomedical equipment and over 300 beds, and conducted training workshops in ECUADOR, CAMEROON, GHANA and NIGERIA for over 950 personnel.

N E W Y O R KC A L I F O R N I AIn support of our expansion into the New York Metropolitan area, MedShare’s NY Regional Council held a very successful benefit at the University Club in December 2011 to welcome MedShare to the area. A Young Professional’s event in the spring raised funds for a container shipment toGuatemala. Our ongoing partnership with North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System establishes MedShare as the leading resource for medical surplus recovery in the Tri-State Area.

Established in 2008, our Western Region operations have been growing by leaps and bounds. We hit a critical milestone during FY12 when we made the decision to expand the physical space of our Western Region distribution center by 50% to accommodate increased demand for aid shipments.

F L O R I D ADuring FY12, we worked with local South Florida consultants to complete a thorough review of the market. As a result of these activities, we have met with and engaged key leaders and had several advocacy events with a focus on securing the resources needed to support expansion. Additionally, we held a benefit concert featuring the Beach Boys with special guest John Stamos to raise awareness around our expansion efforts.
