open land and we initially ran our poultry farm business from here,” says the owner. “However, we always knew that it was a place that had so much more potential and could be a lovely place to live, and so sixteen years ago we decided to apply for planning permission and we’ve since built a really lovely family home.”

“The house, although relatively new, has been designed to have a traditional look both inside and out, so it fits in really well with these leafy surroundings. Each of the rooms is generously proportioned, so there’s a superb feeling of space, and we’ve got the lovely big open-plan kitchen/diner that everyone wants these days. One of the things that I particularly love about the place is the fact that no matter which room you are in, the view is of virtually nothing but greenery; to the back of the property you can see across the garden to the fields beyond, and to the front we have an array of really beautiful mature trees, which also enhance the feeling of privacy. It’s a fabulous home and I know we’re going to be very sad to leave.”

out and know that all of this belongs to you, and it’s also been a superb place to raise our family. The children have had so much freedom to just go out and play for hours in a very safe environment; I’d say they’ve had an idyllic childhood here. It’s also a very picturesque place. The views are magnificent and stretch all the way across open countryside to the London skyline.”

“The large kitchen/diner is without doubt our favourite room in the house,” says the owner. “It’s a lovely big room with a vaulted ceiling, which really enhances the overall feeling of space, and it has doors that open straight out onto our huge patio terrace. It’s the real hub of the home and the room to which everyone seems to naturally gravitate.”

“When you’re sitting in the garden enjoying the peace and quiet and staring out at that very pretty view, you really could be anywhere deep in the countryside. However, we can hop in the car and access a number of well-served towns, or catch a train and be in the centre of London in around half an hour. We’re also within the catchment area for Hall Mead School, which is an Ofsted outstanding school and therefore highly regarded and much sought after.”

“Within the property we have a number of outbuildings that could be utilised in various ways, but I’ve always thought that this could be the ideal place for someone wanting to keep a horse as we have both the land and stables.”

“It’s the setting that I think I’ll miss the most,” says the owner. “It’s very peaceful here, and we’re surrounded by natural beauty, however we’ve never felt isolated. Everything we might want or need is within easy reach and we have some fabulous neighbours; we’re not in each other’s pockets, but there’s a good feeling of community, which is rare these days.”*
