Bohai Leasing to acquire 20% strategic in-terest in Avolon for US$429m

Avolon, the international aircraft leasing com-pany, and Bohai Leasing, the Chinese leasing and financial services company affiliated with HNA Group, have entered into an agreement under which Bohai will make a cash tender of-fer for 20% of the outstanding common shares of Avolon at a price of US$26 per common share. The transaction will be open to all Avolon share-holders. The cash tender offer of US$26 per share represents a 14.5% premium to Avolon’s volume-weighted average price last week (July 6 – 10, 2015) and a 30% premium to Avolon’s Ini-tial Public Offering at US$20 per share in Decem-ber 2014, reflecting the substantial embedded equity value of Avolon’s existing portfolio and its sector-leading platform. This strategic invest-ment by Bohai reinforces Avolon’s position as a leading independent aircraft lessor and allows Bohai to more rapidly expand its exposure to the

global aircraft leasing sector. Bohai’s strong pres-ence in the aviation and transportation finance and leasing sectors in China will help strengthen Avolon’s relationships in the rapidly growing Chi-nese aviation market.

Airbus Defence and Space is to provide two more Airbus A330 Multi Role Transport Tankers (A330 MRTT) to the Royal Australian Air Force under the terms of a newly signed contract. The two addi-tional aircraft will join the fleet of five A330 MRTTs currently operated by the RAAF which was the launch customer for the aircraft and designates it the KC-30A. These aircraft will be based on two previously-owned Qantas Airways A330-200 air-liners which will be converted to A330 MRTTs by Airbus Defence and Space at Getafe, near Madrid, and delivered in 2018. The RAAF decided to use these particular aircraft as they are extremely close to the same basic specification as the KC-30As al-ready in service. In RAAF service the A330 MRTT is equipped with the Airbus Refuelling Boom System (ARBS), two underwing hose-and-drogue refuelling pods used to refuel RAAF F/A-18 and other fighters, and a Universal Aerial Refuelling Receptacle Slip-way Installation (UARRSI) allowing it to be refuelled itself from another tanker.

Jet Aviation’s new web-based business and cus-tomer management solution enables more effi-cient delivery of flight services by using a single, integrated cloud and mobile platform. It also en-sures a more optimized approach to service de-livery and quality assurance measures by further centralizing operations. This new solution gives flight crews, operations personnel and clients the ability to access key business processes through web and mobile platforms. Jet Aviation chose to implement the Avianis integrated management platform to help ensure it is well informed about every detail of its business in a timely manner. By using the same platform, Jet Aviation can central-ize the management of logistics; fleet manage-ment; charter quoting; sales tracking; trip plan-ning and compliance; crew and flight records management; billing and invoicing; expense rec-onciliation; contract management; customer data management; maintenance discrepancy manage-ment; real-time collaboration, and data analytics.

The win comes hard on the heels of its recent contract supporting Germania, also operat-ing from Gatwick’s South Terminal to Erfurt-Wei-mar and Pristina, and Monarch Airlines which the company has supported since launching its ground handling business on November 2nd, 2014.

Munich Airport welcomed the ruling by the Fed-eral Administrative Court in Leipzig, in which the court has now dismissed the six outstanding complaints filed by the environmental group Bund Naturschutz Bayern and five private individuals. The plaintiffs had filed motions with the Leipzig court following the rejection of their appeals in the administrative proceedings on the construction permit for the airport’s third runway. In a previous ruling on February 17th, 2015, the court had al-ready rejected motions filed by the district and city of Freising, and the municipalities of Berglern, Eit-ting, Oberding and Fahrenzhausen. With the latest ruling, the court has now rejected all motions filed in connection with rejected appeals. The rulings of the Federal Administrative Court confirm the air traffic projections and the expansion require-ments of Munich Airport. Contrary to the plaintiffs’ claims, the court has also concluded that the plans do not violate European guidelines on the protec-tion of the environment and natural habitat. The

Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) signed a framework agreement to collaborate in aerospace and defense manufactur-ing and potential integrat-ed systems development opportunities, including unmanned aerial vehicles. The companies intend to access markets jointly for

products and platforms developed together by Boeing and TASL. TASL is already on contract to man-ufacture aerostructures for Boeing’s CH-47 Chinook and AH-6i helicopters. Other Tata group compa-nies – Tata Advanced Materials (TAML) and TAL Manufacturing Solutions (TAL) – are also supplying important components to Boeing.
