Important Information

• All applicants applying for a work visa (Z category) or a long term study (X1 category) must attend the actual Chinese consulate in London for an interview and have their biometrics taken.

• This process must be done after the application and passport has been submitted through the Chinese visa centre

The Embassy are becoming very particular with the passport photos please ensure you check out the guidance listed in the requirements under passport photos. Specifications include.

• be taken within the last three months against a white background and printed on high quality photo paper; be 33mm by 48mm in size;

• provide the full frontal view of your head with your face centred in the middle and displaying a neutral (non-smiling) expression with ears visible.

• No background light or shadow over your face. • You may wear neither spectacles nor headwear except for religious purposes. • You may not wear any jewellery including earrings and necklaces regardless of size. • You may not wear any neck scarves • You should not wear any garment identical to the photo background.

• If a visa application has been rejected and the embassy have provided a yellow letter of Notice of Returned Application, this official document MUST be included in future applications or resubmissions until the visa is granted. Removal or omission of this document is deemed a serious offence by the Chinese Embassy, and will affect the outcome of your application.

• WARNING: The Chinese embassy may now require an ID copy of the person who signed your invitation letter (Copy of ID must contain their signature) to ensure the authenticity of the business invitation letter.

• If a copy of your Chinese inviter's ID is not provided, the Chinese embassy has the right to contact your inviter directly or may even refuse or delay your application.

• The Chinese embassy has visa restrictions on religious workers, so it's advisable to apply for the visa one month before you are travelling.

• US and French nationals are not entitled to the express service to process their visa applications

. Business Visa Business visa's has now been split for one category (F) to two different categories - requirements remain the same regardless of which category is issued:-

F Category - Non-Business - e.g. Research, Training, Conference, Volunteer and non-trading activities.

M Category - Business Commercial and Trade - Business meetings, Negotiations, Visiting Factories.

• Applicants must fully complete ALL answers to ALL questions. • Questions that do not apply to the applicant must be completed as "not applicable" - N/A • Handwritten forms must be completed in block capitals and black ink only • The application form must be printed on separate sheets of paper • Please also include a photocopy of completed form.

Its important that Applicants fully complete ALL answers to ALL questions on their application form. No Tipex or crossings out are allowed. Incomplete application forms will result in a delay to the processing of your visa.

UK Business Letter - A letter from the applicant’s employer

• Must be on company headed paper and be fully addressed to the embassy. • Include the applicant’s full name. • Include the name of the organisation to be visited. • Specify the type of visa applying for. • Include who is financially responsible for applicant. • Signed by someone other than the applicant i.e. Company director or HR department • An example can be found within the visa pack.

Letter of Invitation - One of the two following documents must be provided
