Since 2008, more than 5 million people from Khyber Pakh-tunkhwa (KP) and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) have been registered as displaced. The military opera-tions in the North Waziristan Agency (NWA) in June 2014 and in Bara area in Khyber agency in October 2014 led to further displacements of around 770,000 people. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has verified nearly 92,000 families displaced from NWA and 35,000 families displaced from Bara in 2014.At the end of 2014, 1.6 million people remained displaced in KP and FATA.FATA secretariat has de-notified five areas in Bara and decided to return estimated 80,000 families starting from February 2015.Basic services including shelter, education, health and water and sanitation need to be restored urgently in the return areas.
