Continued from Page 3 books? Certainly not, as the rebuttal suggested "recommended from National Main Street Program". (Information retrieved from www. mainstreet.org) I wonder what else is not realized now, and in the past, about our program. And what else have we, as a community, not been told the truth about. As far as clearing up the confusion I created about the phases of the Main Street Program, I already did in yet another article submitted and published in the Eagle Lake Headlight on March 15th. In my most recent article, I, in no way, implied that the phases were to be completed one phase per year. It was read, by some, the way they wanted to read it. To quote the June 28th Eagle Lake Headlight article I wrote, "Remember, Brenham has been in the Main Street program for 20 years and they STILL aren't finished." There was one time, week before last, that I was glad to be at the right place at the right time. In the Main Street Office, I was there when a Main Street Board Member entered the office after my article hit the surrounding newspapers. The Board member stated to the Main Street Manager that the Main Street Eagle Lake President needed to meet with her because "we have a problem." Of course we have a problem. The truth finally comes out. A new point I would like to bring up is the fact that there is a plan, contrary to previous statements to anyone concerned, for a Main Street Eagle Lake Historical District. I have seen it. Certain people have informed others that it never existed. Has anyone had the chance to review the "Warning Signs: Why Main Street Programs Go Inactive" provided by the Assessment of Inactive Main Street Programs study. It has 15 valid points to which Main Street Eagle Lake applies to most of them. They, too will be published somewhere. And that's it. It is hard to find the facts. Especially when it is shrouded in rumors and hearsay. As I complete this article, I am reminiscent of my very first article about the Economic Development Meeting on February 12th 2001 that I covered at the Eagle Brast descendants hold 23 rd reunion Descendants of the late Adolf and Theodore Brast held their 23rd An- nual Reunion at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall inColumbus Saturday, April 20. After getting reaquainted, the group enjoyed a barbecue supper pro- vided by the Kansteiner families. Present for the reunion were: Elaine and Leroy Brast, Weldon Brast, Victor Brast, and Emma Rei- chardt from Sealy; Monty and Rob- ert Lee Brast, Sr. and Russell and Christey Brast from Wharton; Rob- ert Lee Brast, Jr., Angleton; Annie May Schmidt, Eagle Lake; Kenneth and Delores Vasina, Houston; Marcus (See Reunion, Page 8) VOTE for Dave Curry Eagle Lake City Council "A Vote That Counts" -*. There was a rebuttal the week after, stating that my article was "confusing and mis- leading". At that point, I knew I did my job of covering an event extra- ordinarily well because the meeting its self was "confusing and mis- leading." I have been anything but less than fair and have proven good judgment in the collection of facts to date. Let it be known that I expect a rebuttal again, to which there will be no response. I look at it this way; I have presented my points and facts. Other people have presented their points and facts. Let the general public be the judge because there is other important work to be done. I will also be as bold to dedicate this article to all citizens of Eagle Lake, past and present, which always wanted to speak out and say, "This is wrong" to this, or any other issue, and never did.
