Situation Elm House is situated within the heart of Shipton‐under‐Wychwood ‐ a thriving village set in the rolling Cotswold countryside of the Evenlode vale, between Burford and Chipping Norton. Within the village are three excellent public houses, a post office with a shop, a large modern village hall, a doctors' surgery and a pharmacy with a library. Daylesford Organic shop and restaurant, and Soho Farmhouse are close by. 

Schooling in the area is excellent with a primary school in Milton‐under‐Wychwood and a further well regarded independent preparatory school in the nearby village of Ascot‐under‐Wychwood. There is a range of public and private schools within easy access including St Edward's, Magdalen College and Headington Girls at Oxford, as well as Radley near Abingdon and Cokethorpe near Witney.

Shipton and Ascot‐under‐Wychwood stations link to Charlbury railway station ﴾London Paddington from 75 minutes﴿. The A40 at Burford links to Oxford and Cheltenham and Cirencester.

 

Elm House Elm House is an exemplary master class in the restoration of a listed building on the edge of a thriving village. Overlooking fields opposite, the house has been refurbished to the highest of standards and the attention to detail is second to none.

Built in 1640 and Grade II listed, the house retains many original features. Behind the reinstated inglenook fireplaces and beneath the specially imported French oak floor boards, the house has been re‐wired, re‐plumbed and re‐roofed. Directions ﴾OX7 6DJ﴿ From Burford, take the A361 north towards Chipping Norton. After about 3.5 miles, enter Shipton‐under‐Wychwood, ﴾A﴿ the road descends toward the village of Shipton‐under‐Wychwood, turn right opposite the left turning to Fifield. Continue for 300 yards and Elm House is on the corner of Trot's Lane. Parking is to the rear of the house.
