The 2018 McDonald’s All American Games will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Both the Boys and Girls Game will air on ESPN networks. THE MAKING OF BASKETBALL LEGENDS There are many reasons to watch the McDonald’s All American Games each year. One of the more exciting reasons is to see future stars take their first steps toward basketball greatness. Of the 1,344 McDonald’s All Americans to play in this prestigious event, more than 96 percent went on to play Division 1 basketball. THE ALL-TIME BEST The McDonald’s All American Games alumni represent some of basketball’s greatest players, including former and current NBA and WNBA superstars: Magic Johnson (retired), Michael Jordan (retired), Kobe Bryant (retired), LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers), Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors), Chris Paul (Houston Rockets), Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans), Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota Timberwolves), Candace Parker (Los Angeles Sparks), Maya Moore (Minnesota Lynx), Elena Delle Donne (Washington Mystics), and current college stand-outs such as: Miles Bridges (Michigan St.), Jalen Brunson (Villanova), Grayson Allen (Duke) and Naphessa Collier (UConn). SELECTING THE TEAMS The McDonald’s All American Games are the only democratically selected prep all-star event in the country. The nation’s top high school basketball coaches and media comprise the selection committee responsible for selecting the boys and girls rosters from a pool of more than 700 nominated high school seniors. Since the beginning, high school basketball coaching legend Morgan Wootten has led the selection committee. Winner of more than 1,200 Games at DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), Wootten serves as selection chairman and works closely with Games founder Bob Geoghan to oversee committee voting. PLAYING FOR A CAUSE: Each year, the Games benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities ® (RMHC ® ) and its network of local Chapters. At RMHC, programs like the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room provide comfort and compassion to families with sick children so they are fully supported and able to be a part of their children’s care.
