    Abstract

In recent days use of electronic products has increased very much. These electronic

devices have a limited, after that these devices become waste. This increasing in e-wasting is posing major problems in our waste management system not only in

    India but in whole world.

E-waste basically includes discarded and disposed off electrical and electronic

equipments and devices like refrigerators, T.V.s, computers etc. E-waste isextremely dangerous if managed improperly. It contains many substances like

arsenic, nickel, cadmium etc. which are extremely hazardous for human health and

    environment.

Developed countries (which produce major amount of e-waste) initially solve this

problem by exporting their waste to developing countries like India and China, which created many problems for these countries. Unscientific methods used inthese for recycling of e-waste have posed a major threat to environment and health

of the people who work to recycle the waste. At present developing countries toohave a great potential to produce e-waste in large quantities. This creates an urgent

need for effective management of e-waste. Scientific recycling of e-waste can

    reduce vast quantities of e-waste.

Today e-waste is a global issue. Many countries are having legal provisions for e-

waste management and handling. International conventions have been signed.

Initiatives are being taken at public and private level to solve this problem. Manyinstitutes are also working to find solutions to this problem. But still lack ofawareness among masses and improper enforcement of laws is a major problem.
