Course OverviewThe Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas course gives students the competency to undertake electrical work in a hazardous area and aligns to the requirements outlined in AS/NZS 4761 Competencies for working with electrical equipment for hazardous areas.

Through the combination of theory & practical activities, participants will gain the knowledge & skills to report, inspect, install, maintain & attend to breakdowns of electrical equipment.

The Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas refresher course also meets the requirements for continuing education to be undertaken on a regular basis, as stated in AS/NZS 60079.14 Explosive atmospheres – Electrical installations design, selection and erection and 60079.17 Explosive atmospheres – Electrical installations inspection and maintenance.

Entry Requirements

4 days - full course Participants are required to hold a UEE30811 – Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (Electrical Licence or equivalent).Restricted Electrical Licence holders and Electrical engineers may be eligible for full or partial Statement of Attainment. 2 days - refresher course Participants require a previous Statement of Attainment to be eligible for updated units of competency
