Since 2011, WESTbahn has been operating Intercity services between Vienna and Salzburg using seven KISS double-decker
multiple units on an open-access basis. Thanks to the excellent availability of the trains, WESTbahn scores very well on punctuality
against the competition and is enjoying rapid increases in passenger numbers. In December 2014, WESTbahn ordered 10 additional
train sets from Stadler to introduce a half-hourly schedule. Stadler will deliver a total of nine four-car and one six-car trainsets.
The new double-decker multiple units are 100 and 150 metres long respectively. The comfort in all carriages corresponds to first
class standards and will be further enhanced thanks to a pressure-resistant design and an upgraded bogie. All intermediate
carriages are equipped with a modern cafe where passengers can purchase food and beverages. Separate toilets are also available
in all intermediate carriages. During the journey, passengers will receive comprehensive service from the on-board stewards. The
trains reach a maximum speed of 200 km/h.
