4 de mayo en el Lakefront de St Cloud, se llevó a cabo el Osceola March for Babies 2013. Con más de 400 participantes, la organización recaudó $93,000 en donaciones, lo que excedió su meta de $86,000. La recaudación de fondos continúa hasta junio. Los patrocinadores principales de

Legislatura de puerto Rico aprueba resolución sobre resultados de plebiscito

Washington, D.C. - El Director Ejecutivo de la Administración de Asuntos Federales del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico (PRFAA, siglas en inglés), Juan Eugenio Hernández Mayoral, divulgó el contenido de la Resolución Conjunta Número 24 de la Asamblea Legislativa del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico, sobre los resultados del plebiscito del 6 de noviembre de 2012 en Puerto Rico. El texto de la resolución fue diseminado a funcionarios del Congreso y el ejecutivo federal, al igual que a organizaciones cívicas y el público general en los Estados Unidos.

Hernández Mayoral aseguró que “la resolución aprobada por nuestra Asamblea Legislativa establece claramente que ‘el 6 de noviembre de 2012 en Puerto Rico se llevó a cabo un plebiscito simultáneo con las elecciones generales cuyos resultados

no arrollaron ser concluyentes debido a que ninguna de las propuestas sobre el estatus político de Puerto Rico obtuvo una mayoría de los votos.’ El texto además reconoce que la opción de la estadidad sacó solo 44.4 por ciento de los votos, 2 por ciento menos de lo que sacó en las votaciones de 1993 y 1998 en donde esa opción también fue derrotada. Por lo tanto, como dice la resolución ‘las representaciones que se han hecho o se hagan ante el Congreso de los Estados Unidos a los efectos de que la opción de la estadidad resultó favorecida por la mayoría de los puertorriqueños, no responden a la realidad de los resultados del plebiscito de estatus celebrado el 6 de noviembre de 2012.”Hernández Mayoral añadió que

“esta resolución también reconoce que cualquier proceso verdadero de autodeterminación no puede excluir a la mayoría de los puertorriqueños que consistentemente se han expresado a favor de desarrollar el Estado Libre Asociado. La resolución expresa que seguiremos insistiendo en que se sepa la verdad sobre los resultados de la votación que llevó a cabo la administración pasada, que intentó silenciar las voces de esos electores puertorriqueños a través de un

Washington, D.C. - Puerto Rico Federal Affairs (PRFAA) Executive Director Juan E. Hernández released the text of Concurrent Resolution Number 24 of the Legislative Assembly of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, on the results of the plebiscite held on November 6, 2012 in Puerto Rico. The text of the resolution was sent to Members of Congress, their staff and other federal officials, as well as civic organizations and the general public in the United States. Hernández stated that “the resolution

approved by our Legislative Assembly clearly establishes that ‘on November 6, 2012, Puerto Rico held a plebiscite simultaneously with the general elections, the results of which were not conclusive because none of the proposed political status proposals for Puerto Rico won a majority of the votes.’ The text also recognizes that the statehood option only garnered 44.4 percent of the votes, 2 percent less than it received in plebiscites held in 1993 and 1998, in which that option was also defeated. That is why, as

the resolution states, ‘representations that have been or will be made to the Congress of the United States to the effect that the statehood option was favored by the majority of Puerto Ricans do not correspond to the reality of the status plebiscite results held on November 6, 2012.”Hernández added that “this resolution

also recognizes that any process of true self-determination cannot exclude the majority of Puerto Ricans who have consistently expressed their support for enhanced Commonwealth. The resolution expresses that we will continue insisting that the truth be told about the results of the vote that the previous administration held, in which they insisted on silencing the voices of those Puerto Rican voters through a process that was predisposed in favor of a particular option. Osceola student Claims Third place In national Writing ContestOsceola County, FL - Each year,

American Mothers, Inc., a non-profit organization that has honored outstanding mothers across the United States since 1935, conducts a fifth grade essay contest entitled “What My Mother Means to Me.” Many elementary schools in Osceola County participated in the contest with the encouragement of Reading Coaches and Media Specialists. This year, Narcoossee Elementary combined the writing contest into the

writing curriculum, and all students eagerly wrote about their marvelous mothers or significant mother figure using 150 words or less. The heartfelt essays were entered into the competition, and the students waited for the results. LaDene Hoglund, President of

the Florida Chapter for American Mothers, and Shari Clark, American Mothers 2012 Mother of the Year, visited Narcoossee Elementary to notify the following winners:

--School-Level Winners: Rebecca Khan, Justin Arroyo, and Maggie Jones were recognized as first, second, and third place winners at the school level. --State Winners: Rebecca Khan

continued in the competition and became the State of Florida’s first place entry. Elisa Smith, from Bellalago Academy, was awarded third place in the State of Florida.--National Winner: Rebecca’s

first place entry was then sent to

compete against those from other states in the National Fifth Grade Essay Competition. Rebecca’s essay became the National Fifth Grade Essay Competition third place winning essay. The first, second, and third place

Street (KMS) anunció recientemente como su nueva Directora Ejecutiva a Brianne Stefek, quien ha sido

residente de la ciudad por mucho tiempo y viene a poner en

práctica su experiencia en mercadeo, coordinación de

eventos y comunicaciones en este programa.

Kissimmee, FL - El pasado mes de octubre se realizó, en el Kissimmee Bay Country Club, el primer Torneo de Golf anual de la Fundación Familia Langley con el único propósito de recaudar fondos para otorgar becas estudiantiles. La Fundación Familia Langley igualó los primeros $10.000 recaudados y trabajó con sus principales patrocinadores para seleccionar a 20 ganadores que recibirían $1.000 cada uno, pagados a la escuela de su preferencia.El día 9 de mayo, los ganadores con

sus familias y los representantes de los patrocinadores se reunieron nuevamente en el Kissimmee Bay Country Club para otorgar las becas a cada estudiante. 20 scholarships awarded from Langley Family Foundation golf Tournament

Kissimmee, FL - Last October, the first annual Langley Family Foundation Golf Tournament was held at Kissimmee Bay Country Club with the sole purpose of raising funds for student scholarships. The Langley Family Foundation matched the first $10,000 raised. Following the tournament, the Langley Family Foundation worked with major sponsors to select the 20 recipients that would each receive a $1000 scholarship payable to the school of their choice. On, May 9, the scholarship

recipients, with their families and major sponsors, met at Kissimmee Bay Country Club where the students were presented with their award. The major sponsors were able to select recipients based on the sponsor’s participation. The Woman’s Club of St. Cloud awarded 2 scholarships, Orange Blossom Lodge No. 80 awarded 3, Masters & Wardens District 17 awarded 4, The Knights of Columbus awarded 5, and the Kissimmee Bay Rotary Club awarded 6.

Street (KMS) recently announced its new executive director, Brianne Stefek. A longtime resident of Kissimmee, Stefek comes to Kissimmee Main Street with previous experience in marketing, event coordination and communications. As the new executive director,

Stefek will be responsible for overseeing all KMS events including

the Osceola Art Festival, Kissimmee 5K and Kowtown Festival as well as helping with business assistance and the continued revitalization of downtown Kissimmee. “We are excited with the hire of

Brianne as Kissimmee Main Street’s Executive Director”, said KMS President, Jeff Wolff. “With her great experience and knowledge of our community, she will be a great asset to downtown Kissimmee.”

reforma migratoria comprensiva, la ciudadanía y el pagaré de impuestos van de la mano; no puedes hacer una sin la otra,” dijo Petra Gómez, dueña de Universal Tax. “Si una persona que no es ciudadana quisiera ganar el estatus de residencia legal en los Estado Unidos la prioridad definitivamente seria rendir sus planillas sobre impuestos como prueba contundente de que quieren cumplir con las leyes, y contribuir a la sociedad y la economía.”Los trabajadores indocumentados,

en su mayoría, tienen ideas erróneas sobre el presentar sus planillas

sobre impuestos. La primera, muchos individuos piensan que el Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reporta a aquellos con un estatus indocumentado a Homeland Defense. Sin embargo, leyes de privacidad prohíben que el IRS comparta información personal. Segundo, es que muchos piensan que los que cualifican para reintegros reciben la misma cantidad de dinero. “Muchos individuos no toman en consideración que su ingreso determina cómo y por cuales créditos cualifica para ese año tributario,” nos continuo explicando.

No es fuera de lo común que un trabajador indocumentado radicando planillas sobre impuestos por primera vez reciba miles de dólares en reintegros por los 3 años anteriores. “Este es dinero que queda sin reclamar, y que los puede ayudar con los costos asociados con el proceso de obtener su ciudadanía y a mantener su familia,” añadió el Sr. Gómez.Para rendir planillas, se requiere:

Identificación válida con foto (puede ser pasaporte de otro país); ITIN o tarjeta de seguro social de la persona

que va a rendir; ITIN o tarjeta de seguro social de cualquier y todos los dependientes; y Verificación de ingreso, ya sea una W-2 o 1099“Cuando puedes probar que has

estado pagando tus impuestos, demuestras que tienes el deseo de contribuir con el bienestar del país, y a su vez el mismo acelerará el proceso de convertir a ese individuo en un residente legal” nos dijo.Sin embargo, Gómez recomienda

Daniel Sarcos, comediante y personalidad de la cadena Telemundo del programa matutino Un Nuevo Día, mantuvo a la gente riendo con sus actuaciones. Los equipos de Telenoticias Orlando y Entre Nos firmaron autógrafos e interactuaron con los fans. El Grupo 5 Solz energizó al público con su baile y su entusiasmo contagioso. La cantante colombiana Widy, tenía a todos cantando junto a su hit “Baby Baby”.Daniel Sarcos, junto con

instructores profesionales de salsa de la zona sirvieron como jueces para la competencia de baile de Telemundo Orlando, I Love Salsa presentada por Bealls. I Love Salsa fue un concurso de dos meses que concluyó en la Fiesta de las Madres. Más de 50 concursantes participaron en una serie de audiciones y los mejores bailarines de salsa se exhibieron en holaciudad.com donde el público votó por los finalistas. La competencia final se celebró en la Fiesta. first grandchild. I was wondering whether you are a grandfather and have any tips?My wife, Gale, and I entered

grandparenthood with a thud. We were given seven grandchildren in less than seven years. Let me give them all a plug. They are Morgan, 8, Carly, 6, Ethan, 5, Maggie, 5, Christian, 5, Aaron, 3, and Patrick, 2.First, let me tell you what most

grandparents know; you can’t imagine how happy these little people will make you. And I think grandkids improve your mental health by keeping you positive and forward-looking.I’ll give you a column of what I

think is the most helpful advice on this matter that I’ve collected from trusted sources. Probably the single most important

piece of advice I can share is this: Your grandchildren are not yours; they are your children’s children. Sounds obvious. It’s very easy to forget.As a grandparent, you are in a

supporting role. You have to provide emotional support to both your children and your grandchildren. And you have to do it without interfering. Unsolicited opinions are off the table.So learn to bite your lip on those

occasions when you want to suggest or, worse, criticize. Become

a font of enthusiastic support for all concerned. There will be times that your

children will ask for parenting advice. Be constructive. Cite examples from your own experience with them. Always allow for alternate solutions. No one has all the answers when it comes to rearing children. Act like a grandparent. The

grandchildren have parents. They need someone who is more forgiving and fun. Be silly with them. Within reason, spoil them with treats, toys and permission to act like fools.Tell them stories about when

you were a child. Grandchildren especially love stories about when you misbehaved or acted stupidly. These tales make them feel better about their own failings.The first time I went to a

playground with a grandchild, I discovered that I was a thousand times more nervous than I was with my children. Safety became a major concern for me. The following are safety tips.

Some you will remember from the first time around, but they’re worth repeating because you’re starting over with toddlers.* Go to playgrounds that have

forgiving surfaces to fall onto. Look for rubber matting, sand, wood chips or mulch. I feel so much more relaxed at these playgrounds.* Keep all medicines hidden.

* Lock cabinets containing household chemicals.* Put safety plugs in your electrical

outlets when the grandchildren visit.* Don’t give grandchildren foods

you haven’t cleared with their parents. Peanut allergy is the most common cause of food-related death, so be especially vigilant about any foods that contain peanuts.* Post the number for the poison

control centers in your home. The number is 1-800-222-1222. The centers are open 24/7.* Today’s parents know that you

place infants on their backs, not their stomachs. This newer way has cut down the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Use a firm, flat mattress and no soft bedding.* To prevent choking, don’t allow

small grandchildren to play with anything smaller than a tennis ball. * Avoid anything children can

tie around their necks. Dress grandchildren in clothing without drawstrings. Keep window blind and curtain cords out of reach.* Children today ride in the back

of cars in safety seats. Infants face rearward. Never let a child ride in front—in or out of a safety seat. A child could be severely injured or killed by an air bag.* Never leave a child alone in a

bathtub or on a changing table.

st, Cloud, FL - El 9 de mayo de 2013, los detectives del Departamento de Policía de St. Cloud sirvieron una orden de allanamiento en una residencia ubicada en el 1618 de la Avenida Vermont en St. Cloud, FL 34769. El propósito de la orden de registro era recuperar los artículos robados que fueron removidos del Cementerio Mt. Peace, ubicado en el 755 10th Street, St. Cloud, Florida.Después de una larga

investigación de una semana, los detectives determinaron que Debra A. Farinella, FDN 30/09/1955, había removido numerosos artículos de diversas tumbas y los había llevado a su propiedad

para exhibirlos. Los objetos robados incluían estatuas, luces, decoraciones y tiestos. 9th, 2013, Detectives from the St. Cloud Police Department served a search warrant at a residence located at 1618 Vermont Avenue St. Cloud, FL 34769. The purpose of the search warrant was to recovered stolen items that were taken from Mt. Peace Cemetery, located at 755 10th Street, St. Cloud, Fl.

After a week long investigation, detectives determined that Debra A. Farinella, D.O.B. 09/30/1955, had removed numerous items

from various gravesites and then took the items back to her property for display. The items stolen included statutes, lights, decorations and planters. All items recover from

the home will be taken to the St. Cloud Police Department.

Debra Farinella was arrested on felony theft charges and will be later transported to the Osceola County Jail.
