(1) Pastor Milton Mahabee Passes - Funeral Set for March 24, 2013 @ 10:00am Former Publishing Director of the West Indies Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Pastor Milton Mahabee, passed to his rest on Sunday, March 10, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. He was 66 years old. During his ministry of more than forty years, he served the church as District Pastor in the West and Central Jamaica Conferences, Publishing, Stewardship and Health Ministries Director in the West Jamaica Conference and Publishing Director of the then West Indies Union. The Thanksgiving Service for the life of Pastor Mahabee will be on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 10:00 am at the NCU Gymnatorium in Mandeville, Manchester. Interment will be at the Oakland Memorial Gardens, Hatfield, Manchester. (1) Pastor Milton Mahabee Passes - Funeral Set for March 24, 2013 @ 10:00am

Former Publishing Director of the West Indies Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Pastor Milton Mahabee, passed to his rest on Sunday, March 10, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. He was 66 years old. During his ministry of more than forty years, he served the church as District Pastor in the West and Central Jamaica Conferences, Publishing, Stewardship and Health Ministries Director in the West Jamaica Conference and Publishing Director of the then West Indies Union.

The Thanksgiving Service for the life of Pastor Mahabee will be on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 10:00 am at the NCU Gymnatorium in Mandeville, Manchester. (2) Global Youth Day (GYD) is March 16, 2013

March 16, 2013 will see Adventist Youths from across the globe in action, as they minister to the needs of people in the spirit of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Last week's communication advisory outlined some of the activities the Youth Department will participate in on March 16, 2013. See flyer below with further suggestions for GYD activities. Just in case you missed it, between 12:00 noon and 2:00pm on Sabbath March 16, 2013, the Youth Ministries Department of EJC, will move into Mandela Park in Half Way Tree, where there will be distribution of Priority Magazines, a singspiration and interaction with the man in the street with words of hope and cheer. We invite you and members of your church to come along and be identified in this Global Youth Day Activity. Love packages will also be distributed to needy persons while those who would like to donate blood to save a life will be facilitated in this process at the EJC Conference Office. (3) Youth Week Of Prayer March 16 - 23, 2013

The annual youth week of prayer entitled, “Revival that Counts…a Call to Justice and Mercy,” will run from March 16-23, 2013. The entire church is invited to support and join in these special services of prayer as our young people take the lead during this week of prayer for revival. (4) President Cotterell to address elders at special Elders Meeting on March 17, 2013

All Elders (ordained and unordained) are invited to attend a special meeting for Elders and Pastors at the Andrews SDA Church on Sunday March 17, 2013 at 10:00am. Here, the election of officers to serve the East Jamaica Conference Elders' Association for the next two years will take place. Pastor Adrian Cotterell, President of EJC will also be addressing the Elders on important matters including the role of the elder in the 'Year of the Laity'. Pastors and elders are encouraged to make every effort to be in attendance.

(5) Adventist Pastors To Be Ordained on March 16-2013

A special ordination service for six pastors now serving in East Jamaica Conference will take place on Sabbath March 16, 2013 at the North Street SDA Church at 4:00 pm . The pastors were recommended to the Jamaica Union Conference Administration for ordination by the East Jamaica Conference Executive Committee earlier this year. - 2 -

The pastors to be ordained are Dane Fletcher, Neville Walters, Anthony Taylor, Melvin Francis, Carl Honeyghan and Titmus Morgan. EJC SABBATH SCHOOL/PERSONAL MINISTRIES & COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT Hello Sabbath School friends!

Please be reminded that as at January 5, 2013, and by now all our Sabbath Schools should be on the new or renewed programme:

• 6-8 members in each class • Interactive reading/learning strategy for the bible study/review • Vertical meditation for each unit member • Horizontal sharing of thoughts, etc.

Please note the following:

1. Next Sabbath School Meeting - Sunday, March 17, 10 a.m. – 12 noon (for Sabbath School superintendents, secretaries & divisional leaders)

2. Senior Citizens bi-monthly meeting – Sunday, March 31, 2013 at 1:00 pm the EJC office

3. Community Services monthly meeting - Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the EJC office @ 10 a.m.

4. The Ambassador Search for 2013 has begun, get on board! Registration forms are available on line. Registration closes March 28, (fee $200), please contact the EJC office for further details.

5. The EJC Ambassadors meeting will take place at 10:00 am. on March 24, 2013 at the Conference Office. All participants are reminded to be on time.

N.B. Sabbath School superintendents and Personal Ministries leaders are reminded of the Sabbath School end of quarterly report, which is due on the 10th of each month following the end of the quarter, (report form & explanation sheets are available on line) . All weekly evangelistic reports from your church must be sent to the EJC office by Wednesday.

Women's Ministries Notices for Week Ending March 16, 2013

1. Retreat 2013 is on schedule. The office is now accepting deposits. Pay early and save.

2. Hats off to the many churches who have Moms in Touch, IMAP and GEMS active in their

churches. We encourage others to get on board for the register is being taken.

3. GEMS anniversary will take place at the Hagley Park SDA Church on Sabbath April 20, 2013 @ 3:30 p.m. All churches are reminded that seats for their GEMS Cabinet will be reserved up to 3:20. p.m. General seating of members will take place from 3:00 to 3:25 p.m. The main speaker will be Dr. Tez Brown Cotterell. All fun loving mentors are expected to be in attendance. The dress code for mentees is black bottom and solid colour top. There is no special dress code for mentors. It is important that all GEMS be in attendance along with their mentors. You are advised to take your lunches to church so you can be on time for the service.

4. Visit the Andrews SDA Church ‘Moms in Touch’ prayer session every fourth Wednesday in each month on the church grounds. March 27, 2013. Time: 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

5. Coming soon will be our ‘Mother Daughter’ Conference. Watch the site for further information and details.

6. I.M.A.P. launch will take place in June. Our speaker will be Dr. Eric Nathan. This is your opportunity to come learn how to build lasting relationships. You are asked to bring a visitor with you.

7. Women’s Ministries team leaders, let’s pray and plan to reap at least one soul per quarter, per church, that is at least four souls for 2013. April is the month of special reaping for our department

8. In support of our 6 pastors who will be ordained on March 16, 2013, we have postponed our Leaders Certification Training for Levels 2 & 3 for a date to be announced.

9. Final assessment for Soft Skills HEART Trust NTA Data examination will be this Sunday, March 17, 2013. Communication assessment will be held on Sunday March 24,2013.

Children's Ministries Notices for Week Ending March 16, 2013

1. Jewels Launch will take place on Sabbath April 6, at the Constant Spring Church. You will be officially

seated from 3: 00 – 3:30 p.m. Our guest speaker will be the JAMU Children’s Ministries Director, Sis. Lorraine Vernal. The function begins @3:30 p.m. sharp. Our Jewels are asked to, wherever possible, don their pink and blue colour tops for the occasion. Suitable Sabbath skirts and pants( for boys) are to be worn. NO JEANS

2. The first set of Jewels polo shirts is available for $700.00 for all sizes. The shirts bear the IAD CM FIT4JESUS and the SDA logos and are in sizes 6-16. Shirts are also available without logo for $360.00. Please make your order and payment immediately. We have a limited amount. You can also take your shirts to Logo Stitch to have them place the logo on it. These shirts will be our national EJC tops for our Jewels.

3. All CMD’s are asked to teach their children the Spanish version for the song ‘When He Cometh to make

up His Jewels in readiness for the Jewels launch.

4. Children’s Convention ‘Preach Fest’ and baptism will be held at the Stadium Community Church. The dress code is white dresses with pink or blue accessories for the girls and black or blue pants with white, pink or blue shirts for the boys. All CMDs are asked to indicate by the end of March the name(s) of their prospective candidate(s) for baptism. A special package will be prepared for persons who will be baptized during this year of the LAITY.

5. Orientation for public speaking and child preachers training has begun. CMD’s kindly remind the children to do their assignment. Another orientation is about to take place. Kindly send us the children’s names immediately.

6. St. Thomas! St. Thomas Kindly send us the names of all children that are to be trained in public speaking

and child preachers training immediately.

7. The children’s Spanish group meets at Hagley Park Church from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. every 1st and 3rd Sabbath.

8. All CMD’s are asked to use Children’s story time, as one of the avenues to give the weekly parent tips. This is a captive audience to disseminate the information. This tip should preferably be read by a child and should take no longer than 30 seconds.

9. Children’s ministries team leaders let’s pray and plan to reap at least one soul per quarter per church, that is four souls for 2013. May is the month of special reaping for our department. Since our mandate is soul reaping, this is a reminder that all CMDs are expected to engage our children in crusade in your church.

10. In support of our 6 pastors who will be ordained on March 16, 2013, we have postponed our Leaders Certification Training for Levels 2 & 3 for a date to be announced. .

Let this list be a jumping off point! Be creative with your activities suitable for Sabbath

• Pack toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, de-odorant, snacks, gloves and warm socks, litera-ture and hand them out to the homeless in your church community.

• Prepare healthy snack bags (sandwiches, fruits, water, drinks, etc.).

• Donate new or good used clothing.

• Give literature (check with your Personal Ministries Department ahead of time).

• Hand out toys (toys must be new or in very good, usable condi-tion).

• Clothing (clothes must be new or in very good, usable condi-tion).

• Share songs (sing-alongs).

• Help with crafts.• Help serving meals.• Pray for someone.• Take flowers for the

• Post on Facebook the Act or Acts of Kindness you’ve done during the GYD.

• Prepare food baskets

• Share literature (The Great Controversy, Steps to Christ, Desire of Ages, magazines, etc.)

Each church should focus on creating a GYD campaign that will inspire daily acts of kindness through-out the entire church. The goal is to integrate daily acts of kindness into our lifestyles, both as individu-als and as a church.

• Thank-you baskets or other acts of appreciation to the police and/or fire departments of your city/town.
