( Xh 16, 2- 4 12-15) thuaät laïi moät caâu chuyeän ñaõ xaûy ra vaøo thôøi Xuaát Haønh, töùc laø vaøo buoåi daân Chuùa môùi
ñöôïc ra khoûi Ai Caäp, khoaûng 1259 tröôùc Chuùa Gieâsu giaùng sinh. ÔÛ giöõa sa maïc hoang vu, daân chuùng thieáu
thöùc aên nöôùc uoáng. Hoï keâu traùch Moâisen , töùc laø keâu traùch Thieân Chuùa vaø Thieân Chuùa ñaõ cho “ manna’ töø
trôøi rôi xuoáng. Ñoái vôùi daân, Manna chæ coù nghóa laø caùi gì vaäy? Nhöng ñoái vôùi Moâisen “ manna” trôû thaønh
moät taëng phaåm cuûa Thieân Chuùa ban cho daân Ngöôøi.
Hieåu boái caûnh cuûa caâu chuyeän manna trong Cöu Öôùc nhö theá neân Thaùnh Gioan ( Ga 6, 24- 35) ñaõ duøng hình
aûnh manna ñeå noùi veà Chuùa Gieâsu Kitoâ laø “Baùnh bôûi trôøi” ñöôïc ban cho theá gian maø daân Do Thaùi ñaõ khoâng
tin nhaän. Chuùa Gieâsu hoùa baùnh ra nhieàu cho hoï aên, vaø hoï ñi tìm Ngöôøi chæ ñeå coù baùnh aên, neân Ngöôøi ñaõ baûo
hoï raèng: “ Haõy ra coâng laøm vieäc khoâng phaûi vì löông thöïc mau hö naùt, nhöng ñeå coù löông thöïc tröôøng toàn
ñem laïi haïnh phuùc tröôøng sinh.” Cuoái cuõng Chuùa Gieâsu khaúng ñònh: “ Chính Ta laø baùnh tröôøng sinh. Ai ñeán
vôùi Ta, khoâng heà phaûi ñoùi. Ai tin vaøo Ta , chaúng khaùt bao giôø.” Vaäy maø hoï vaãn khoâng nhaän ra tình yeâu cuûa
Thieân Chuùa, khoâng nhaän ra taëng phaåm Tình Yeâu Baèng Xöông baèng thòt laø Chính con Thieân Chuùa, Chuùa
Gieâsu Kitoâ, Ñaáng ban söï soáng tröôøng sinh cho nhaân loaïi.
Chuùa Gieâsu ñaõ ñeå laïi cho nhaân loaïi moät kho taøng voâ giaù laø chính Mình vaø Maùu cuûa Ngaøi. Vaäy moãi khi tham
döï thaùnh leã, chuùng ta haõy nghieâm trang khi röôùc Mình vaø Maùu Thaùnh Chuùa Kitoâ ñeå nuoâi döôõng linh hoàn
chuùng ta. Coù nhö vaäy, Bí Tích Thaùnh Theå chính laø nguoàn tình yeâu maø Chuùa Gieâsu ñaõ trao ban cho nhaân loaïi
chuùng ta.

Dear parishioners of Our Lady of La Vang
Just a week away, on Saturday August 11, 2012 at 6pm, the Mass of Installation will be celebrated by Bishop
Brown at Our Lady of La Vang. I want to invite all of you to join me at this special occasion and
together with me, we thank God for our parish. After mass, there will be a box of dinner for each one of you.
Please make a special effort to come to this festive celebration. Bishop Brown also told me that his priest
friend will also join us for this special event.
The theme for this 18th Sunday is that Jesus is the bread that came down from Heaven. In the first reading
from the Book of Exodus chapter 16, 2- 4- 12- 15) tells us a wonderful story that happened about the year
1259 before the birth of Christ. The Israelites just got out of Egypt. In the wilderness, the Israelites were out
of foods and water. They blamed on Moses and of course to God so God sent “Manna” from heaven. For the
Israelites, the word Manna means what is that? But for Moses Manna became a gift that God gave to His
people. In the story of Manna from the Old Testament, Saint John uses in the New Testament that Jesus Christ
is bread from heaven. Jesus was bread that God gave to the world but the Israelites did not believe. Jesus
multiplied many bread for the people to eat and they only seek Jesus for the bread alone. So Jesus told them
that “let us work for imperishable foods, the foods that bring us eternal life. Lastly Jesus told them that: I am
the bread of life, who ever come to me will be never hungry. Whoever believes in me will be never thirst.” In
short then, they did not recognize the love of God for them, and they also did not see the gift of love in the
flesh that Jesus Christ. He is the son of God and gives his life for the world.
Jesus Christ indeed gives to the world his greatest gift the Body and Blood of Jesus. Each time we come to
celebrate his death and resurrection, let us be mindful of his love for each one of us. Let us receive His Body
and blood with reverend and commitment. May we reach out to others and share that gift of unconditional
love of Jesus to everyone whom we meet daily. In order to receive Jesus’ Body and Blood worthily, we need
to come to the sacrament of Reconciliation. In that confession, we are able to renew our relationship with
Jesus and with others in a very special bond. May the Lord through the intercession of Our Lady of La Vang
bless each one of you with love peace and joy.

Queridos Feligreses
Justo una semana antes, del Sábado 11 de Agosto 2012 a las 6:00 de la tarde será celebrada la Misa de in-
stalación por el Obispo Tod Brown en Nuestra Señora de La Vang. Quiero invitar a todos ustedes que me
acompañen en esta ocasión tan especial y juntos demos gracias a Dios por nuestra parroquia. Después de la
Misa, habrá comida para cada uno de ustedes. Por favor, haga un esfuerzo especial para llegar a esta cele-
bración. El Obispo Tod Brown también me dijo que un sacerdote amigo de él también se unirá a nosotros pa-
ra este evento.
El tema de este 18 º Domingo, Jesús es el Pan que descendió del cielo. En la primera lectura del libro del Éxo-
do, (Capítulo 16, 2 - 4 - 12 - 15) nos cuenta una historia maravillosa que ocurrió alrededor del año 1259 antes
del nacimiento de Cristo. Los Israelitas acababan de salir de Egipto e iban por el desierto, y no tenían ali-
mentos ni agua. Ellos culparon a Moisés y por supuesto, a Dios. Entonces Dios les envió el "Maná" del cielo.
Para los Israelitas la palabra Maná significa: ¿Qué es eso? Pero para Moisés el Maná se convirtió en un rega-
lo que Dios le dió a su pueblo.
La historia del Maná es del Antiguo Testamento y San Juan usa en el Nuevo Testamento que, Jesucristo es
el Pan del Cielo. Jesús era el pan que Dios le dió al mundo, pero los Israelitas no creyeron. Jesús multiplicó el
pan y dió de comer a muchos, pero ellos después sólo buscaban a Jesús por el pan. Entonces Jesús les dijo:
"trabajemos por los alimentos imperecederos, que son los que nos traen la vida eterna. Por último Jesús les
dijo: Yo soy el Pan de Vida, el que viene a mí nunca tendrá hambre. El que cree en mí nunca tendrá sed”. En
resumen, ellos no reconocieron el amor de Dios y tampoco vieron el regalo de amor en el Cuerpo de Jesucris-
to. Él es el hijo de Dios y da su vida por el mundo.
Jesús de hecho da al mundo su major regalo que es su Cuerpo y su Sangre. Cada vez que venimos a celebrar
su Muerte y Resurrección, seamos conscientes de su amor por cada uno de nosotros. Recibamos su Cuerpo y
su Sangre con reverencia y entrega. Podemos invitar a los demás a compartir el don del amor incondicional
que Jesús nos da a todos. Con el fin de recibir el Cuerpo y Sangre de Jesús dignamente, tenemos que llegar
al Sacramento de la Reconciliación. En esa confesión, somos capaces de renovar nuestra relación con Jesús y
con los demás en un vínculo muy especial. Que el Señor, por intercesión de Nuestra Señora de La Vang ben-
diga a cada uno de ustedes con la paz, el amor y la alegría.
