What a friction?
A friction is a force that resists motion.
Ex. If you shove a book to make it slide across a tabletop, the force of the shove must be great enough to overcome frictional resistance.
We commonly think of friction as a hindrance to work and motion.
When we try to move an object, the force of friction opposes the motion of the object.
Friction allows us to walk.
Without the friction between our shoes and the walking surface, we would slip and slide.
Friction can also be a very desirable force.
Car tires have irregular surfaces that increase their friction with the road.
